A Luzerne County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, in the area of Aristes Road, east of Reservoir Road, in Union Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Megan Lynn Thomas, 18, of Shickshinny, was driving a 2006 Kia Spectra eastbound when the vehicle left the road and entered a grass field. The vehicle then spun and struck a utility pole, coming to rest in the middle of the road.Thomas sustained a minor injury in the crash while damages were termed major to the vehicle. Troopers said Thomas was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, having bald tires on the vehicle and not wearing a seat belt.
