Coaldale man issues bad check

A Coaldale man is in trouble for allegedly paying for a fuel oil delivery with a bad check, police say.

Leonard Ruggiero, 52, of 101 First St., paid for the $300 delivery from Tirpak Oil Company, Lansford, on March 21, 2009, with a check knowing it would not be honored due to insufficient funds, Sgt. Keith Krapf wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.Tirpak gave Ruggiero a sufficient amount of time to make good on the check and avoid prosecution, but Ruggiero did not make any payments or arrangements, according to the affidavit. Gregg Tirpak has now gotten a $25 fee from his bank for the bounced check. Tirpak sent a certified letter to Ruggiero on Oct. 1 advising him to make the $300 payment plus $25 for the bounced check charge.Ruggiero is charged with passing bad checks.
