Carbon has real estate investment company handling Weatherwood sale

Are you seriously considering putting in a bid for Weatherwood, the Carbon County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Weatherly?

If so, Commissioner William O'Gurek, chairman, has released the contact information for Isaac Dole, a representative of Marcus & Millichap, Chicago office, the real estate investment company hired by the county to act as the sole agent for the sale of the facility.O'Gurek said if anyone is interested in talking to Dole about purchasing the 200-bed facility, they should call (312) 327-5400 or e-mail

Isaac.Dole@marcusmillichap.comSerious inquiries only.During Thursday's commissioners' meeting, the board announced that it was officially putting Weatherwood up for sale. The current minimum asking price is $8 million. County officials hope that they will get between $8 and $10 million for the sale since numerous entities have shown interest in the 17-acre property. It was a sad time as O'Gurek made the announcement of the sale, but the board said they cannot afford to continue to fund the facility, which currently has a near $3 million deficit. In 2009, the county gave Weatherwood over $2.6 million to help cover expenses at the building. If the county would have decided to continue to own Weatherwood, by next year, the board anticipated that the $3 million general fund surplus would be depleted and a 2-mill increase in taxes would be required for 2011. That was something the three commissioners said they wouldn't do because they didn't want to put the financial burden on the taxpayers' shoulders.
