Jim Thorpe Freedom Rallies hosting informational seminar

The Jim Thorpe Freedom Rallies is hosting an informational seminar on the constitution at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13. The event, "U.S. and Pennsylvania State Constitution," will be held at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, East 10th Street.

Gene Duffy, one of the organizers of the seminar, said "the purpose of this event is to familiarize people with the United States and Pennsylvania State constitution. Every elected official, member of our military and every law enforcement officer takes an oath to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States from all enemies both foreign and domestic."The reason our country and economy is in such turmoil is because we no longer follow our constitution. Most elected officials have not even read, yet alone understand, the U.S. and state constitutions so they have no idea how they are supposed to represent us. They are merely paying lip service when they take their oath of office. The problem is 'We the People' no longer understand the constitution either so we have no way of holding those who violate it accountable."The evening's guest speaker is William Taylor Reil, a constitution scholar and member of the Continental Congress. He will speak about a variety of topics relating to the constitution and government.Other topics that will be covered include when and why the constitution was suspended; how this impacts Americans; and what can be done to change this. The group will also touch on the Support Your Sheriff program that they organized in an effort to raise awareness about Sheriff Richard Mack, former sheriff of Graham County, Ariz., and long-time crusader for freedom and individual rights.
