Wednesday night was all about Stroudsburg's Matt Transue and his wrestling teammates.

The Mounties went into Lehighton and handled their business in Mountain Valley Conference play, as they won by a score of 50-21. Transue picked up his 100th victory in the process and helped Stroudsburg improve to 3-0 on the young season."I thought we did really well tonight," said Stroudsburg head coach Matt Kleinle. "Every single one of our kids went out and wrestled tough. We worked really hard this week and I think it showed out there on the mat tonight."The story of the night belonged to Transue. After the 189-pounder pinned Lehighton's Matt Dorward a minute and 15 seconds into the first period, he raised both hands in triumph and signaled the number "100" with his right hand."I was thinking before the match that I had to get this over with," admitted the three-year captain. "It was a big night for me. This is something I have been looking forward to my entire life basically. I just came out here tonight and did what I had to do."I love pinning. It makes it a lot easier on me because I'm not out there for the whole six minutes and I know that I am not going to get caught or something. Getting No. 100 on a pin is just icing on the cake."One might think that a wrestler would relax a little bit after having won his 100th match. Not Transue. Afterward he admitted that he has yet another goal in mind: winning 120 matches and becoming Stroudsburg's second most-winningest wrestler in history."Matt has been great," said Kleinle. "He has definitely been one of the backbones of the team. He sets the tone as far as the rest of the kids looking up to him and working in practice. It has helped the other kids want to get to his level and you can see that in their work ethic as well."Stroudsburg opened the match with three straight victories before Lehighton finally got on the board. Floyd Brown, the Indians' head coach, decided to go against his original plan and forfeited the team's 119-pound match with the Mounties' Matt Valentin.Instead, Brown dropped Jeremy Gormick from 119 to 125 to face off with Megan Penny. The move worked out brilliantly, as Gormick pinned Penny in 51 seconds.From then on Stroudsburg would win five of the next six matches - three via a pin - and locked up the team victory after Chris Yocum took the 160-poind bout. David LucyKanish was the only Indian to earn a win in that stretch. He earned a decision over Jacobi Nordmark, 6-1.After that, the two teams would split the remaining four matches. Lehighton's John Mertz was awarded a win after Strousdburg's John Brown suffered an eye injury and was unable to continue. Briar Stern then finished the night on a good note; pinning opponent Nick Graff at the 4:19 mark.The Mounties' Jayson Borger and Guesseppe Rea earned praise afterward from their head coach for a great effort."Tonight was Jayson's first time in the lineup," said Kleinle. "We weren't really sure how he was going to react, but he went out there and took the kid down. I thought that was a good sign for a young kid."I also thought Guesseppe, our 103-pounder, wrestled exceptionally well. He is a hard working kid and he went out there and did well.
