Tamaqua lifts snow emergency; removal work begins Monday

Mayor Christian Morrison lifted the Snow Emergency Declaration for the Borough of Tamaqua on Friday at 5 p.m.

There are no travel restrictions in Tamaqua, but motorists are advised to use caution when driving.Just when borough officials were finishing up their snow removal process after the major storm two weeks ago, the big weathermaker that hit on Thursday set the stage for another round of clean up operations.Snow removal will begin on Monday at 12:01 a.m.Monday's schedule will include: south side of Broad, railroad tracks near Borough Garage west to Odd Fellows Cemetery; Center, both sides from Broad to SR309 bridge; Mauch Chunk, both sides, Broad to Pine; North Railroad, Tommy's Restaurant to Broad; South Railroad, Broad to Spruce.Tuesday's operations will include; north side of Broad, railroad tracks near Borough Garage west to Odd Fellows Cemetery; Pine, both sides, Broad to Mauch Chunk; Berwick, both sides, Broad to Hegarty Avenue; Nescopec, both sides, Cottage Avenue to Hegarty Avenue; Swatara, both sides, iron steps to Lafayette.All vehicles must be removed from the posted streets at least two hours before operations are scheduled to begin. Snow removal will continue as time and weather permit.
