The county corner's office said Laila Ibrahim, 35, and her son, Khaled Adoueimagd, 10, both of East Stroudsburg, died at the scene. Ibrahim was ejected from the vehicle.
State police at Fern Ridge, who investigated, have not released the name of the driver of the 2003 GMC Envoy or the other two injured in the crash but did state all were from East Stroudsburg.
The driver was taken to the Geisinger Medical Center Wyoming, Plains Township, Luzerne County, where he remains in critical condition. Two passengers, an infant female and a juvenile male, were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Lehigh County. Officials did not release any information on their conditions.
The Envoy was eastbound and troopers said traveling too fast for ice and snow-covered road conditions, when the driver lost control about 4 p.m. The Envoy went onto the berm and rolled over once and then hit a tree.
