A Schuylkill County teen is facing a charge of driving under the influence, following a two vehicle crash that occurred on Friday, Feb. 12, along SR901 at SR209, in Branch Township. It was one of several crashes on Schuylkill County roads investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said Tamara Amato, 40, of Orwigsburg, was driving eastbound about 10:02 p.m. on 901 in the area of 209 when a 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by a 17-year-old male from Pottsville, attempted to make a left turn onto 901 westbound, from 209 and pulled into the path of Amato.Troopers said the Cavalier impacted with the front and passenger side of the 2006 Infinity FX35 driven by Amato. Upon impact the Infinity spun one and a half rotations in a clockwise direction and came to rest along the eastbound shoulder facing west. After impact the Cavalier traveled eastbound for about a half of a mile before pulling into a nearby parking lot.Troopers said the teen was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville, for a blood test. The DUI charge against the teen is pending the test results, troopers said.Amato sustained a minor injury in the crash. Two passengers with the teen, two males both age 15 and from Pottsville, also sustained minor injuries in the crash. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Troopers investigated another crash on Friday, about 7:50 p.m., along SR61 near Centre St., in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Jesse L. Rabbitz, 25, of Schuylkill Haven, was traveling northbound in a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravado and negotiating a right hand curve when he lost control. The left rear of the vehicle struck the center concrete divider. After impact the Bravado began to fishtail and spun in a counter-clockwise direction across both lanes. The right rear then struck the center divider a second time. After this impact the Bravado continued north for about 42-feet before rolling onto its passenger side and then its roof.The vehicle continued north on its roof for another 171 feet before coming to rest facing north blocking both lanes of travel.Rabbitz sustained a moderate injury in the crash and was taken to the SMCS. Troopers said Rabbitz will be cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.A two vehicle crash was reported on Saturday, Feb. 13, about 6:43 a.m. along the Port Carbon Highway (SR1001), in East Norwegian Township. Troopers said Mary A. Betz, 52, of St. Clair, was southbound in a 2004 Honda Civic and did not have her headlights activated. Nichole A. Truscott, 25, of Port Carbon, driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, was norhtobund and attempting to make a left turn onto Mill Creek Avenue and did not see the Honda approaching due to the darkness and the fact Betz did not have her headlights on. The front left bumper of the Cherokee struck the front left tire wheel base of the Honda.Betz was taken to the SMCS for treatment of minor injuries. Truscott and a five-year-old boy in a safety seat were not injured. Betz was cited for periods for requiring lighted headlamps.A two vehicle crash occurred about 10:51 a.m. on Saturday along SR183 at the Cressona Mall entrance at the Burger King restaurant in North Manheim Township.Troopers said Robert G. Norton, 61, of Schuylkill Haven, was attempting to make a left turn from the mall onto 183 and go east and pulled into the path of Tiffany M. Harrison, 19, of St. Clair, who was westbound. The front right bumper of Norton's 1995 Subaru Impresa struck the right front tire wheel base of Harrison's 2003 Saturn Vue.Norton, Harrison and three passengers with her, including two, one-year-old females, were all not injured.Troopers cited Norton for vehicle turning left.Troopers reported investigating two hit and run accidents.A hit and run was reported at 4:45 a.m. on Saturday along Caroline Avenue at McCord Avenue, in Dieners Hill, East Norwegian Township. Troopers said a pickup truck was driven westbound on Caroline and attempted a right turn onto N. McCord when the plow blade on the truck struck and punctured the left front fire of a parked 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck owned by James Hutchinson, of Pottsville. The driver then backed up his truck and fled westbound on Caroline.The hit and run vehicle is described as being tan in color with a yellow snow plow and rear salt spreader on it.The second hit and run was reported on Sunday, Feb. 14, about 3 a.m. at 12 Snyder Ave., in Porter Township. Troopers said a parked 1995 Subaru Legacy was struck by a white or light colored passenger car. The hit and run vehicle, believed to be a General Motors product, has damage to the front end which includes a smashed headlight, troopers said.
