In order to receive input from Franklin Township residents, supervisors will host a Community Block Grant public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.

Judy Borger, director of the Carbon County Planning Commission, will conduct the public hearing on the township's 2010 projects which include dredging one pond at the Phifer Ice Dam Park, resurfacing Market Street and a portion of Cedar Street, and replacing the upper portion (phase two) of the Court Street retaining wall.

Franklin Township is an entitlement community. The township will receive approximately $99,418 to spend for 2010.

Carbon County will receive 18 percent or $17,895 for administering the grant program for the township, leaving the township a balance of $81,523 for the projects.

To receive the funding, 51 percent of the township must be low to moderate income. The project must address a slum or blighted area and meet a particular urgent community development need.
