Prepare to pass the PIAA high school football exam in a 15-hour course being offered at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) over 10 weeks.

This is the ideal class for both men and women with no previous experience necessary. You will learn and develop the knowledge needed to work as a paid and certified PIAA football official.

Role of officials – Preparation and conduct

Officiating uniform – Officiating Philosophies

Dealing with coaches and parents

The game, field and players

Terms and definitions

Timing and substitutions

Kicks, snapping, and passing

Scoring

Player conduct

Penalty enforcement

Official's jurisdiction and duties

Mental preparation and crew composition

Mechanics of proper signaling

Three, four, five and seven-man mechanics

Progression through Peewee, Midget, Middle school, JV, Varsity and NCAA assignments.

Handouts, manuals, video and the experienced instructor staff will help you become confident and competent on field football officials.

Guest speakers will include local PIAA high school and NCAA college officials

Tom Kichline, NCAA College Referee is the instructor.

The course will run from February 15 to April 19, 2011 from 7:-8:30 p.m.

The need is tremendous for officials at every level who know the fundamentals and have certification.
