Nesquehoning teen charged after crash

A Nesquehoning teen has been charged following a Dec. 16 accident in Tamaqua.

Carly Elizabeth Niedert, 19, of 11 Great Oaks Dr., Nesquehoning, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance and underage drinking. Niedert was allegedly driving a Honda Tiburon on SR309, at 11:25 p.m., near the Taggertsville intersection when she lost control and went over an embankment. Niedert exhibited several signs of intoxication and was transported to the Rush Township Police Station for a portable breath test. The results indicated a blood alcohol content of .234 percent, almost three times the legal limit of .08.
