The engagement of Gabrielle Marie Rowlands to Brandon Daniel Shimp, both of Coopersburg, has been announced by the couple's parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Elizabeth Rowlands of Jim Thorpe. She is a 2005 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School. She graduated in 2009 from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor of science in EC/EL education. She went on to the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained a master's degree in library and information science.She is currently employed at Bushkill Elementary as the school librarian.The prospective bridegroom is the son of Daniel and Amy Shimp of Quakertown. He is a 2004 graduate of Quakertown High School. He graduated in 2008 from Penn State University with a bachelor of science in civil engineering.He is currently employed at Allan A. Myers as a project engineer.Brandon proposed in August when the couple was vacationing in Atlantic City with close friends.A wedding is planned for Sept. 10, 2011 at the Meadows in Hellertown.
