Special MassSt. Katharine Parish, Lansford, will host a Mass in honor of St. Vincent de Paul on his feast on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. The Mass fulfills participants' Sunday obligation.Fall meetingThe Frances C. Jakabcin District of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association will hold its fall meeting on Sunday, Sept. 27, in St. Joseph Catholic Church hall, Summit Hill. The meeting will be hosted by the Lansford branches No. 140 and 46 and will begin at 1 p.m.Members of the St. Ann Society of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, who are planning to attend should contact Veronica Bazik, president, (570) 645-5253.Borough ordinanceLansford Borough Council has enacted Ordinance 2009-09 regarding Fire Prevention and Fire Protection. Burning on streets, sidewalks, alleys and any public access is prohibited. Outdoor burning on public grounds is limited to the purpose of cooking food only. Burning on private property is restricted with the exception of cooking food provided it is within a fireplace or grill designed for such purposes or in decorative lanterns or torches. A full copy of the ordinance is available at the borough office and will be on published on the Web site in the near future.OLOA volunteersAny parent, grandparent, guardian or friend who wants to volunteer his or her time to work with the children of Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, in any capacity, is required to complete a form required by the Diocese of Allentown and to attend a Protecting God's Children session sponsored by the diocese. This includes anyone planning to accompany the children on class or field trips.A session will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in McGinley Hall at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.Food pantryThe Lansford Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization that serves the residents of Lansford, is open on the third Monday of every month at St. Katherine of Drexel Church's gymnasium. The levels will be Tigers (first grade), Wolves (second grade), Bears (third grade), and Webelos (fourth and fifth grade).NesquehoningDemocratic clubThe Nesquehoning Democratic Club will hold a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Nesquehoning Lions Club building. Frank Jacobs will conduct the meeting. Plans for election will be discussed.
