9 persons enter guilty pleas

Nine persons in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

The eight were:Jordan C. Adair, 20, of Jim Thorpe, entered pleas in two pending cases. He pleaded guilty to one count of receiving stolen property for an incident on Sept. 10, 2008, at the Pocono Whitewater facility in Penn Forest Township. He was charged by state police at Lehighton. He also pleaded to four counts of theft for an incident on Aug. 21, 2009, also in Penn Forest Township involving the theft of all terrain vehicles (ATV).Webb deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI).Anthony Phillip Borrelli, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 15 by state police at Lehighton for an incident along White St., in Bowmanstown.Webb sentenced him to serve 71 to 142 days in prison. He was given credit for 142 days already spent in jail and was immediately paroled.Michael Giovatto, 23, of Walnutport, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Oct. 14, 2009, along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton. Given a test, the result was .18BAC.Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment. On a summary offense of speeding he was fined $57 and costs.Andrew Roy Kemmerer, 28, of Bethlehem, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Nov. 13, 2009, along SR248 in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .23BAC.Webb deferred sentencing to a later date.John H. Moser, 27, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Feb. 14 along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .11BAC.Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.Matthew Scott Petko, 35, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on June 27 by Palmerton police at his residence where officers found him growing marijuana plants.Webb sentenced him to serve two to 12 months in prison, get both D&A and mental health evaluations, and provide three hours of community service per month for the length of his sentence. He was given credit for 54 days spent in jail and was paroled.Isaac H. Purcell, 31, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of simple assault-mutual consent fight. He was arrested for an incident on July 4 in the 200 block of White St., Weissport, by state police at Lehighton. The listed victim was Michael C. Balagach Jr.Webb sentenced him to time served (10 days) to one year in jail and he was immediately paroled.Darrin John Rozzi, 39, of Shawnee-of-the-Delaware, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on March 26 by state police at Lehighton along Trachsville Road in Towamensing Township. Given a test, the result was .10BAC.Webb placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and get a D&A evaluation.Gregory Paul Steinmetz, 26, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of harassment. He was arrested on May 16 at the residence of his parents with his father, Paul W., the listed victim.Webb sentenced him to time served (11 days).Each defendant sentenced must pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
