Tamaqua borough is stepping up enforcement of sign and poster placement throughout the borough. Any signs or posters not removed after the event will be removed and the event holder will be fined. Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt stated, "Residents are allowed to temporarily place signs or posters on telephone poles with tape or string as long as they remove them within two days after the event. Signs are never allowed to be placed on any borough property such as street signs, street poles, or lamps." PPL Electric told Steigerwalt that residents can put signs on the telephone poles as long as they don't use damaging materials like nails or staples and their signs or posters must be removed immediately following the event. Steigerwalt added, "Some residents have actually used duct tape to attach their signs to the new black street lamps recently installed downtown. The tape is almost impossible to get off without causing damage to the new poles."
