West Penn Community Park was alive with music, activity, and fabulous food on Saturday when the 29th Annual Senior Citizen Fun Day brought out more than 70 guests to join in the fun.
The event was hosted by The West Penn Township Lion and Lioness Clubs and has become a tradition within the township over the years. It was started in 1981 by Lion member Dean Gilbert. Friends and neighbors together enjoyed the activities and entertainment that lasted throughout the afternoon.
After the opening ceremonies, barber-shoppers Mike Kabana and Ryan Holley sang to the audience and were joined onstage by a special senior guest-Charlie Snyder.
An old fashion meat loaf meal was served with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Dunn's farm stand provided a fruit assortment for dessert.
Susan Long and Teddi Cunningham got the crowd motivated with their presentation on a program about Living and Learning after 50. They discussed their Prime Time Health Program and gave exercise demonstrations.
Later in the afternoon, the entertainment was Pa Dutch humorists Bill Meck and LeRoy .
Other activities included bingo, a cake walk, and raffles. The Penn Mahoning Ambulance Association was also on hand to provide wellness screenings. A light supper with dessert was followed by the day's closing ceremonies.
