The Carbon County Environmental Education Center will host the first of several Hunter/Trapper Education courses, administered by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Anyone wishing to purchase a hunting or trapping license in Pennsylvania must complete and pass such a course.
The course consists of three sessions, to be held Monday, Aug. 16 and Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 21 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Participants must attend all three sessions.
There is no cost for the program, but pre-registration is required. Space is limited, so those wishing to sign up are asked to do so through the Game Commission's website, pgc.state.pa.us. Those without Internet access may call the CCEEC at (570) 645-8597.
CCEEC is located at the western end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, along Lentz Trail just outside of Jim Thorpe.
