Lehighton and Marian both posted a pair of victories on the diamond to highlight Thursday's scholastic sports results.
Tyler Hill had a solid day on the mound as well as in the batter's box to lift Lehighton to a 13-6 Mountain Valley Conference win over Pocono Mountain West.
Hill had 12 strikeouts and only surrendered three walks all in first inning to earn the pitching win. He also finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs, three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Derek Heffelfinger recorded three hits and three RBIs while Jacen Nalesnik chipped in with two hits and three RBIs. Nic Storm (two doubles), Dave Behler (two hits, RBI) and Matt Schaeffer (two hits, two runs scored) also had big games for the Indians.
Lehighton improves to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the MVC.

Marian got back to its winning ways with a 8-1 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity.
Six different Colts recorded singles on the day, but it was Drew Sherkness who sparked his team's offensive attack with a two-run homer in the opening inning. The Colts also were aggressive on the basepaths and took advantage of several Hilltopper miscues to tack on runs later in the game.
While his offense supporting him with some runs, Colts' pitcher Ryan Gimbi settled in and went the distance to earn the win on the mound. Gimbi struck out 10 Hilltoppers, while he only surrendered three walks on the day.
Marian improves to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the Schuylkill League. The loss also drops Nativity to 6-2 in league play.

Wilson rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat Palmerton, 9-5, in a Colonial League game.

Derrik Walling went 4 for 4 for the Bears, while teammate Jake Chamberlain was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Travis Rasely was 2 for 2 with two runs scored, Tim Shea went 2 for 3, Rob Getz was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Chris Mendoza was 1 for 3 with four RBIs.
Winning pitcher Pat Kregeloh allowed just one hit over five innings.

Kelcie Smith led the Indians' attack with three hits, two runs scored and three RBI. Jenna Smith added three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs; Sarah Snyder finished with three hits, three runs scored and a RBI; and Echo Bretzs recorded two doubles.
Lehighton improves to 4-6 overall (2-3 MVC), while PM West drops to 1-10 (0-4 MVC).

Nina Curran's two-run triple in the fifth inning secured Marian's 2-0 Schuylkill League win over Nativity.
Shannon Skotek started the bottom of the fifth with her second single of the game and Kayla Merchlinsky followed with another single. With two outs, the Fillies' Curran, who had a single earlier in the game, drilled her extrabase hit to chase home both runners.
Kayla Knight recorded the complete-game shutout for the Fillies as she finished with nine strikeouts and four walks.
Marian improves to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the SL.

Palmerton came from behind to secure a 4-3 Colonial League victory over Wilson.
After trailing 3-0 after three innings of play, Katie Reimer pulled the Bombers within one with a two-run single in the fourth.
The very next inning, Amber Hettler delivered what turned out to be a game-winning two-run single.
Palmerton moves to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the CL.

The Indians' James Sverchek had a fine day posting a two-set singles' victory and then pairing up with teammate Nick Mantz to score a 8-6 proset win in doubles.

Saucon Valley swept Palmerton in a Colonial League meet.
The Panthers won the boys meet, 94 1/2-50 1/2 as Palmerton had just four individual firsts.
In the girls meet, Saucon Valley posted a 99 1/2-45 1/2 win. Kristen Romano had a strong performance for the Lady Bombers, capturing two of their three individual firsts and also running a leg for the winning 400 meter relay team.

For Lehighton Darren Wanamaker, Joe Oriel, and Anthony Farole all had multihit games.
Steven Shanton pitched two and a third innings of scoreless relief to help Lehighton defeat Pocono Mountain West, 14-6.
Shanton entered the game with two out, the bases loaded and Lehighton leading 8-6. He induced a pop out to second to end the threat and then pitched two more scoreless innings.
Alex Storm had three hits and three RBIs for the Indians. Dareen Wanamaker and PJ Salerno added two hits apiece. Wanamaker also had two RBIs.
