Jim Thorpe is gearing up for its 13th annual earth Day celebration this weekend, April 17 and 18.

The weekend will feature arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, environmental information, children's' activities, community clean up/cleanup and traditional and ethnic foods.

"Information Alley" will provide visitors with environmental awareness brochures and information on "going green" at home and in the community. The Kids' Corner will provide games, crafts, and activities. Vendors will display jewelry, pottery, patchwork, clothing, tie-dyes and art work.

Earth day T-shirts will be on sale at the Earth day booth along with homemade vegetarian foods, chai tea and water.

Entertainment in the park and at the Mauch Chunk Opera House will include High Strung, Pleasant Corners, the Beings, Wandering Root, Brother's Daddy, Dakini, and the Jersey Carthwrights. The George Wesley band will perform at the Opera House on Saturday evening.

Earth Day activities will begin at 11 a.m. both days.
