A 40-year old man was seriously injured Wednesday morning when he was struck and pinned under a tree along the south face of the Blue Mountain in Lower Towmensing Township, Carbon County. The incident occurred at 10:15 a.m. Emergency personnel of the Aquashicola Fire Company and Lehighton paramedics responded to the remote location needing four wheel drive vehicles to reach the victim. It took an hour to remove the man from the scene to an awaiting MedEvac helicopter. He was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center in Allentown suffering severe head trauma.
