State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating burglaries, thefts and other incidents recently in Monroe County.
Two businesses along SR209 in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, were entered early Sunday morning and cash was removed. In both break-ins a cinder block was thrown through the front glass door of the business to gain entry.
Entered were the Happy Nails and Wing Haw Restaurant. In the Happy Nails entry $2,000 in cash was reported taken. In the restaurant entry the ceiling was damaged and about $100 was removed. The entries occurred sometime between 3 and 7 a.m.
Another burglary was reported on Sunday. John Fedin, of Box 6890, Pine Mountain Court, Chestnuthill Township, reported his home was entered through an unlocked door. The criminals entered the living room and smashed the glass doors on a gun cabinet. Removed was a Mossburg 12 gauge pump shotgun, a Savage .410/.22 over under gun and two air soft Airstrike 240, .24 caliber, pistols. The break-in occurred sometime between noon and 7:30 p.m.
Five incidents at the Pleasant Valley High School in Chestnuthill Township are being probed. On March 26, between 3 and 5 p.m., a purse was removed from the bleachers area of the school containing an iPod, cell phone and some cash. The purse was later found on top of one of the buildings at the complex. The purse belonged to a juvenile from Saylorsburg.
The second incident occurred on a parking lot at the school on March 29 between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. Matt Green, of Kunkletown, reported the distributor cap on his 1995 Chrysler 300 was removed by unknown persons.
The third incident occurred at the track and field facility at the school. Someone removed a purse from the bleacher area which contained about $1 in change and a set of headphones. The purse belongs to a juvenile from Kunkletown and the incident occurred on March 26 between 4:20 and 4:30 p.m.
The fourth occurred on March 31 between 7:15 and 11:30 a.m. Michael Brandt, of Effort, reported his vehicle was entered and an iPod removed.
The fifth incident occurred also on March 31 between 7:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Scott Robles, of Saylorsburg, reported his vehicle was entered and removed was a Zune digital player.
