15 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the intersection of Jonas and Merwinsburg roads, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said William E. Helman, 47, of Lehighton, was driving a 1995 GMC Sierra eastbound on Jonas Road while Ann L. Kermes, 59, of Albrightsville, was stopped on Merwinsburg Road in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Helman failed to stop for a posted stop sign and the two vehicles collided in the intersection, troopers said. After impact the GMC continued east hitting a stop sign and a tree. Upon impact the Santa Fe spun clockwise and came to rest in a ditch along the east shoulder.Helman and passengers, Andrew Helman, 26, and Megan M. Yarnell, 22, both of Lansford, and Kermes were all injured. West End ambulance responded to the scene and transported the injured to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.Troopers cited Helman for the stop sign violation.
