Blue Mountain Health System, Gnaden Huetten and Palmerton hospitals, will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month in October by offering two events to the community and employees.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues, especially the importance of early detection.
The eighth annual Ladies Night Out lecture and dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 4 p.m. A complimentary dinner will accompany a motivational talk. Door prizes and giveaways are included.
In addition to Ladies Night Out, BMHS will again offer the Breast Cancer Awareness Marketplace at the Lehighton and Palmerton campuses. The concept is borrowed from the annual Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Conference in Harrisburg.
On the day of the conference, tables called "Positive Booths" will be set up throughout hallways with people from various organizations and businesses sharing information and services and selling a variety of wares dedicated to the concept of feminine "indulgence and pampering."
It is in this spirit that everyone is invited to participate in the fourth Breast Cancer Awareness Marketplace.
