The Black Diamond Writers' network will meet Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St. Guest speaker will be Jessica Lucey, a marketing executive at Mars Inc. as well as a communicator for Toastmasters' International. Her topic will be successful ways to make presentations to live audiences.

SWNC to meet
The South Ward Neighborhood Committee will meet Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., at 230 Race St. The group will discuss the next step in plans for the Carriage Street Stairway Project and the renovation of the South Ward Playground. Also to be discussed will be a safe trick or treat night.
All interested parties are welcome to attend.
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, Commission meetings will be held at noon; the Worship and Music Committee will meet at noon; and Heritage Day will be celebrated from noon to 4 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, Prayer Time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare from 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry, prayer and adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., parenting class at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Twin Pine Campers hoagie making from 7-8 p.m.; Saturday, Praise practice at 9 a.m.
The Tamaqua Area Cross Country Boosters will meet Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m., at Sisters Restaurant and Cantina. Anyone interested in supporting the teams is welcome to attend.
