Schuylkill Township's new Police Chief Frank DiMarco continues to be busy. He presented his monthly report for September at Wednesday night's Board of Supervisors meeting. DiMarco reported on 11 different incidents in the township, including several code enforcement complaints that he worked on with code enforcement officer Dan DeCindio, a theft, several ATV and 4 wheeler complaints, and one instance of juveniles cursing and throwing rocks at the Tuscarora playground. DiMarco also advised the supervisors that he ran speed along Catawissa Road and issued several citations and warnings.

The supervisors announced that the township's road work for 2009 has been completed, with the exception of some patching work that is being done by the township worker. The supervisors approved payment in the amount of $25,947 to Slusser Brothers for the work that was completed on Locust Street and near the playground. Ordinance 2-2009, the international property maintenance code, was also passed. Township secretary Mary Bubel advised the supervisors that she has completed the application to join the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce energy pool to help offset the anticipated rate hikes in 2010. Bubel also noted that the township has seen an increase in the number of garbage collection bills that have not been paid. There are still 54 outstanding bills, totaling over $11,500. Additionally, two residents alone owe over $1,500. As of October 19th, the unpaid items will be turned over to the magistrate, and have an additional cost of $110 added to them.Schuylkill Township will hold their Halloween on Saturday, October 31st from 6:00-8:00pm. Supervisors asked all residents to please welcome children by turning their porch lights on. Supervisor Joe Boran was absent from the meeting.
