A Jim Thorpe man was arrested after he was observed operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol (DUI) on SR209 on Sept. 29.

According to Summit Hill police, Todd Kostak, 43, of 47 W. Front St., was traveling at 2:40 a.m. when he passed police traveling the other direction. He was driving with his high beams on so police signaled him to dim his lights, but he failed to do so. Police then turned around to complete a routine traffic stop but as they followed him they observed that he was driving erratically, crossing over the center line.

A traffic stop was conducted and it was discovered that Kostak was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI, failure to dim high beams, careless driving, and driving on the right side of the roadway.
