Five left homeless after Monroe fire

Five persons were left homeless on Wednesday after a fire destroyed their home.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the fire erupted about 10:36 a.m. along Orono Drive in the Arrowhead Lakes development in Tobyhanna Township.Police responded to a report of smoke coming from a porch area. Upon arrival officers observed flames in the house and it was already engulfed. Six volunteer fire companies from the surrounding area responded to extinguish the blaze, police said. The family who resided at the home all got out safely. A state police fire marshal has been summoned to assist in the investigation to determine a cause.Police identified the victims as Donald Wagner Sr., 79, Donald Wagner Jr., 50, Donald Wanger III, 18, Robin Wanger, 41, and a one year old female.Police added the Red Cross also responded to the scene to assist the Wagner family.
