Two drug dealers entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday. The two were among several defendants charged with drug-related counts to enter pleas before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

AG probeEmily James, 26, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty in three pending cases including charges filed as the result of investigations by the state Attorney General's drug unit.James pled to one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility in drug sales, and possession of drug paraphernalia.James was arrested on the deliver count on May 13, 2008, by Franklin Township police who were working with agents of the AG office, at a motel in the township. She was charged with selling drugs out of a room at the motel with another person. She pled to selling crack cocaine.The communication charge stems from a ongoing probe by the AG's office of illegal drug activity from Octoter 2006 to October 2008. The criminal complaint indicates cocaine and heroin were involved.The paraphernalia offense stems from a April 11, 2008, incident at the Lehighton Cemetery. She was a passenger in a vehicle in the cemetery after hours. When police searched the vehicle they found a glass tub used for smoking marijuana on her.Nanovic noted James faced a prison term according to state sentencing guidelines. He deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.Martin Garvey, 52, of Nesquehoning, entered a guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-oxycodone.Garvey was arrested by agents of the AG office after he sold oxycodone pills to an confidential informant (CI) in Nesquehoning in March and April.In each incident he sold 20 pills for $300 to the CI. The plea is tied to one of the sales in a plea bargain.Nanovic accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered a PSI. Nanovic noted that Garvey faced a substantial jail term at the time of sentencing based on state sentencing guidelines.Other casesOther pleas entered in pending drug cases included:Rochelle Ann Hauser, 40, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-cocaine. She was charged by agents of the AG office for selling crack cocaine to a CI on June 11 in the Lehighton area. She was on probation on another criminal count at the time and is currently in prison for the violation.Nanovic sentenced her to serve one to 12 months in prison and ordered her to get a drug and alochol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render three hours of community service each month she is on parole. She was given credit for three days spent in jail to date on the charge.Alberto Carlos Amorim, 35, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug parappernalia. He was arrested by agents of AG office at a room at the Mahoning Inn in Lehighton on Oct. 7 with another man. He was originally charged with possession with intent but it was dropped in a plea bargain.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he pay a fine of $500 and get a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must pay a $50 per month supervision fee.
