Tamaqua High Library sponsors scholastic book fair, family day

The Tamaqua Area High School Library Media Center is sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair this week, through Friday, Dec. 11, and a Family Day on Dec. 11.

The book fair will be held daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library's media center, while the Family Day will be held on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.Student library aides will assist with the book fair during the school day. Additionally, student volunteers will help set up the fair, which is supervised by Mrs. Corinne Betz and Mrs. Thelma Urban.The week-long annual book fair is a celebration of reading, and a literacy promotion event. Students will be encouraged to purchase books for themselves to benefit the high school library media center. These books will be used for both the Accelerated Reader program and for student's leisure reading.Students will have time to visit the book fair during their Language Arts classes. Student library aides will assist with the smooth operation of the book fair.This year, as a thank you for bringing their classes to browse at the book fair in past years, each Language Arts teacher will receive a small award of $25 each to select books for their classrooms.For more information or to volunteer to help at the book fair, please contact Corinne Betz, Library Media Specialist, at (570) 668-1901, ext. 2150.
