On Sunday the Tamaqua Area Water Authority began installation of a new valve in its 30-inch transmission main. As a precaution, the authority has issued an advisory stating: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.

Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

For more information about this public notice, please contact: Tamaqua Borough Hall (570) 668-3444 or the Still Creek Water Treatment Plant, (570) 668-6319.

A notice will appear in the TIMES NEWS when the water is safe to drink.
