A Monroe County driver is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and drug possession following an incident that occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, along Echo Lake Road in Coolbaugh Township.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were on patrol at the time and date stated when they conducted a traffic stop for motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Jamal Thomas, 35, of Tobyhanna.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways, both occurring on Saturday, June 18.

A crash occurred about 11:50 a.m. along SR209 in Branch Township. Troopers said Clarke H. Woods, 53, of Enola, Cumberland County, was operating a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle northbound near the Pottsville city line when he ran over the remains of a animal. The rear wheel of the bike hit the squashed remains of a squirrel causing Woods to lose control. The bike slid onto its right side.

State police at Lehighton reported on several acts of criminal mischief that occurred recently.

Jerry Lamar Walk, 43, of Palmerton, reported someone arrived at his property at 1535 Lower Smith Gap Rd., in Kunkletown, and cut two pad style locks on two sheds and then cut the ignition on his parked 2004 Yamaha Kodia all terrain vehicle (ATV). The criminal then fled the scene. The incident was reported at 9:30 a.m. on June 4.

Lehighton police reported the arrest of Nicholas D. Keiser, 32, of 18 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning.

He was cited on Wednesday, June 22, about 11 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Seventh St. for disorderly conduct. Police said he was observed urinating in public.

A New Jersey driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were called to Miller Drive, near Lake Naomi Clubhouse, about 1:28 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, to a report of a pickup truck doing doughnuts in the parking lot. Upon arrival the vehicle was found across the street from the clubhouse in a construction area with security personnel from Lake Naomi on scene.

A New York state driver was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 20, along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on three arrests for retail theft, in two separate incidents.

Troopers said Kelly House, 22, and Michelle Waters, 35, both of Effort, were cited following an incident at the CVS Pharmacy located at the intersection of state routes 209 and 115, in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said the two entered the store and allegedly attempted to leave the store with several items without paying for them. The incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. on June 6.

Kidder Township police are investigating a series of incidents that occurred at the Holiday Pocono development located along SR534 in Albrightsville.

Police said five homes, five vehicles and two sheds were burglarized overnight of June 15-16. Taken were GPS units, money and minor miscellaneous items. The homes were entered by forcing open either doors or windows. All the cars entered were unlocked.

Also, a 2004 Suzuki Forenza was stolen. The key was left in the ignition, police noted.

James R. Taylor, 46, of 463 N. Second St., Lehighton, has been cited by the Lehighton police for harassment.

Taylor was charged following a physical altercation which occurred at 124 S. Bridge St., on June 18 at about 11:45 p.m.

A Lansford woman has been cited by Tamaqua police following an incident on May 28.

Officer Matt Bynon was on patrol at 3:52 a.m. when he observed a white Chevrolet Malibu being operated the wrong way on Hegarty Avenue. Bynon stopped the vehicle in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot and identified the driver as Lisa Jean Green, 51, of 640 E. Ridge St., Lansford.

Green exhibited signs of intoxication and stumbled when getting out of the vehicle. Due to her unsteadiness, she was unable to perform a field sobriety tests then rejected several opportunities to retake the test.
