Jim Thorpe police cited a borough woman for a dog law violation.

Police said on Tuesday, Jan. 10, about 2:55 p.m. officers observed a black and tan pit bull running unattended in the 400 block of Oak Street. Police were familiar with the dog due to numerous complaints of the dog attacking other dogs in the borough.

The dog owner was identified as Robin Uhler, 51, of 53 W. Fourth St. She was cited for confinement of dogs, police said.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 2:26 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, along South Goodspring Road (SR125), in Hegins Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Ogbogu E. Jukpor, 35, of Valley View, was driving a 2006 Honda sedan northbound near Barnes Road, when he said he swerved to avoid a deer. The car went onto the east berm and struck the front porch of the residence at 487 Goodspring Road.

A Lehighton driver is facing several charges following an incident that occurred in Jim Thorpe in January.

Borough police said on Jan. 12 about 5:33 p.m. they received a message from the communications center of reports of an erratic driver traveling southbound on SR903 in the area of Kattner's Mountain. Police were told the suspect vehicle was a Jeep Grand Cherokee and that it almost caused several accidents.

Police observed the vehicle and made a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Street. The driver was identified as John A. Collotty, 32, of 82 E. Third St.

State police at Frackville reported a retail theft arrest made in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said about 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, they were called to the Kmart store in the Schuylkill Mall, New Castle Township, for a person stopped by store employees for theft.

Troopers said Lori Grohol, 30, of Frackville, was observed on surveillance video taking four shirts and placing them into a bag without paying for them. The items were valued at $38.96.

She was issued a citation and released.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a trailer.

Troopers said a 2010 carry utility trailer, black in color, with a wood deck, about 12-feet long, was stolen while parked at the Days Inn Motel, located at 1476 SR61, in North Manheim Township. The trailer is owned by Ruth Singh, 32, of Pottsville, and was parked outside her apartment at the motel.

The theft occurred sometime between 1 and 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. The trailer has state registration plate XFT-9334, on it, troopers said.

An Albrightsville man has been charged by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Layon Peebles, 26, also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and a stop sign violation.

Officer Jeffrey Lutz of the police department, said Peebles was stopped by police for a stop sign violation.

When the officer approached the vehicle that Peebles was occupying, the odor of marijuana was detected.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported the arrest of a Schuylkill County woman for retail theft at a county store.

Troopers said Sarah Harring, 24, of Tremont, was arrested about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Boscov's Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township.

Troopers allege that Harring was observed taking a pair of Amethyst jeans from the store without paying for them. She was stopped by store security and turned over to troopers.

State police at Lehighton reported on the following driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers.

Three occurred on Sunday, Feb. 19.

At 12:16 a.m. Daniel Allen Mitchell, 26, of Kunkletown, was stopped along SR115, a mile north of SR209, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating burglaries that occurred in Carbon and Monroe counties, as well as incidents of theft.

A break-in occurred at the Alliance Sand Quarry, located at 415 Golf Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Unknown criminals smashed windows out of an electrical building and a storage shed.

A phone $10 bill was passed at a Schuylkill County business.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred a the Auburn Food Market, located at 2087 Market St., Auburn, West Brunswick Township, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, between 12:30 and 4 p.m.

The unknown criminals purchased items in the store and paid with the counterfeit bill, troopers said.
