State police at Lehighton are investigating a theft from vehicle incident.

Mary Anna Reed, of 2206 Lakeview Drive, Rossland Lakes development in Ross Township, Monroe County, reported someone removed gasoline from her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of her home. The incident occurred sometime between June 2-4.

State police at Lehighton said troopers will be conducting roving DUI patrols and a sobriety checkpoint this coming weekend on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.

The operation is part of a state police strike force initiative to reduce the number of crashes, fatalities and injuries on state roads.

The operation will be conducted June 8 through June 9.

State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County residence.

Troopers said a home at 98 Schuylkill Avenue, West Mahanoy Township, was entered sometime between 12:30 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 3. Removed from the home was a 48-inch flat screen television, a laptop computer, a black in color laptop case containing $100 in cash, a desktop computer (tower only), an Apple Ipod and an Android. The listed owner is Richard Eugene Sharp, 38, of Shenandoah.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 874-5300.

A Schuylkill County man is facing a charge of harassment following an incident that occurred about 7:28 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said at 1553 Fair Road, in Wayne Township, Shawn Rymond, 43, and a 17-year-old female, became involved in a verbal argument.

During the argument Rymond allegedly pushed the teen onto a couch and slapped her in the face, troopers said.

One of two drivers involved in a crash in Monroe County on Wednesday, June 6, has been cited.

State police at Fern Ridge said Christopher Baker, 26, of Kunkletown, was operating a 2011 Nissan Altima eastbound on Weir Lake Road about 3:24 p.m. when he attempted a left turn onto SR209 to go north. Troopers said he failed to yield the right-of-way to a 1998 Dodge Durango, being operated southbound by Marc Arnone, 42, of Effort.

Kidder Township police issued the following report on citations issued by officers.

On May 16 about 11:40 a.m. Joshua Holland, 21, of Brodheadsville, cited for stop sign violation at the intersection of North and South Lake Drive.

On May 22, at 10:55 p.m. Carrier Reinhart, no address given, cited for stop sign and suspended license at intersection of SR534 and Old Stage Rd.

On May 24 at 10:30 p.m. Denise Carani, 34, of Hollywood, Fla., cited for turning on steady red light where sign prohibit it, at intersection of Moseywood Rd. and SR940.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on two burglaries being probed a Carbon County locations, along with other incidents.

The residence of Johanna K. Vetesky, 51, of Beaver Lane, Indian Mountain Lakes development, in Penn Forest Township, was entered through a unlocked front door. Removed was a oxycodone prescription belonging to Vetesky and a AT&T cell phone.

The entry was made sometime between midnight and 5 p.m. on May 26.

A Luzerne County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Tammy Marushin, 44, of Sugarloaf, was stopped along Interstate 81 in Kline Township, about 3 p.m. on Friday, June 1, after being observed driving erratically. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

The DUI charge is pending, troopers said.

A Michigan man was jailed following a vehicle stop in Carbon County. State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred about 11:57 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Troopers said a Hertz rental vehicle bearing Michigan registration was stopped for speeding.

A consent search was made of the vehicle and K9 Johnny was used. He alerted troopers to luggage in the trunk.

Lehighton police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

Richard E. Hartranft, 47, of 101 Lehigh Drive, Lehighton, was cited for smoking in the Col. Jacob Weiss Park on Monday, June 4, about 2:45 p.m. Smoking in the park is prohibited by borough ordinance.

Edwin Mertz, 52, of 131 Mauch Chunk St., Lehighton, was cited for criminal mischief and public drunkenness for an incident on March 18, about 7:40 p.m.

Police said Mertz allegedly damaged a six-foot piece of PVC pipe he pulled from a yard in the 400 block of N. First St.
