A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 2:22 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers stopped Bradford R. Borstelmann, 23, of Mt. Pocono, along SR611 at Crestwood Drive for several equipment violations.

Borstelmann was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then placed under arrest and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.

Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in separate incidents in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said about 8:23 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, Julius Racz, 29, of Breinigsville, was stopped operating a 2000 Saturn sedan along Hamilton Blvd., near Krocks Rd., in Lower Macungie Township, for a vehicle code violation. At the stop Racz was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then placed under arrest for DUI and taken for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers added.

A Bangor man was arrested by Mahoning Township police for assaulting a retail store manager and giving false identification to police, and both the man and a woman who was with him were charged with retail theft after trying to leave the store without paying for $1,463 worth of merchandise.

The charges stemmed from an incident that took place at 6:06 a.m. Jan. 21 at the Super Wal-Mart along SR443, according to police chief Kenneth A. Barnes.

Ridge St., both of Lansford: Harassment on Jan. 7 at 10:45 a.m. at their residences; Tiffany Black, 32, of 30 Cortright St., Lansford: Violation of the borough's animal nuisance ordinance on Jan. 8 at 3:20 a.m.; Victoria Argott, 31, of 156 W. Snyder Ave., Lansford: Harassment on Dec. 25 at 156 W. Snyder Ave.; Anna Heffelfinger, 18, of 216 N. Oak St., Summit Hill: Harassment on Dec. 30 at 11:49 a.m. on the 200 block of E. Ridge Street.

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Wednesday after being arraigned on charges related to the sexual assault of a teenage girl.

State police at Frackville said Andrew Charles Bakerofskie, 20, of Girardville, has been charged with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, five counts of statutory sexual assault, four counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of corruption of minors.

A Carbon County driver is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and illegal drug possession following an incident about 7:41 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, along SR248 in Parryville.

State police at Lehighton said Gary Lee Bruch, 56, of Palmerton, was stopped for several motor vehicle code violations. Troopers said Bruch was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest for DUI and also possession of a small amount of a controlled susbstance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 10:37 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, along North Fireline Road, in Parryville, Carbon County.

Troopers said Kelly A. Alexander, 42, of Palmerton, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra eastbound when she lost control after failing to negotiate a slight left curve in the road. The vehicle slid off the south edge and into a culvert, then rolled onto its side, coming to rest on its side in the culvert.

Alexander was not injured. Troopers cited her for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

A cabin was broken into in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the entry occurred at a cabin located along Dreshersville Road, in West Brunswick Township, sometime between Jan. 22-25.

A window was smashed to gain entry.

Once inside the criminals removed two wood stoves and the piping that goes with it along with about a cord of firewood.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.

A Monroe County driver is the victim of identity theft.

State police at Lehighton said an unknown criminal obtained the Visa check card of Alfred Moreton, 59, of 1723 Upper Smith Gap Road, in Ross Township, and used it to make purchases over the Internet. The purchases totaled $2,722.49 and occurred during the period of Dec. 17-20, 2010.
