A Luzerne County man has been charged with robbing a bank in the county last week.

State police at Hazleton said a arrest warrant has been issued for Shawn Luther Kelley, 33, of 417 E. Chestnut St., Hazleton. He has been charged with robbery, a felony one, and theft, a felony three.

He has been charged with the robbery of the PNC branch bank located along SR93 in Hazle Township that occurred on April 16.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers this week.

A two vehicle crash was reported about 3:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, along SR183 in Cressona. Troopers said Tommy R. Miller, 58, of Pottsville, was stopped in a 2006 Dodge Durango for a red traffic light while John A. Prehl, 39, of Auburn, was southbound operating a 1998 Subaru. Prehl failed to stop and the front of his vehicle hit the rear bumper of the Durango.

No one was injured and damages were minor to both vehicles. Troopers cited Prehl for following too closely.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating two burglaries, one at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said K&G Subs & Suds store, located at 242 Orchard St., Auburn, was entered sometime between10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, and 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door.

Once inside the criminals located a tip jar, cash register and lock box. About $41 in coins was taken in the incident.

A Jim Thorpe man is facing multiple charges of theft after he used stolen merchandise in an attempt to gain store credit at the Game Stop store in Hometown.

Rush Township police said Gregory A. Macalush, 20, allegedly removed various items from the store then brought them back later in the day seeking store credit. The items were valued at $144.

A 17-year-old Summit Hill male was charged after police found him to be intoxicated.

According to Summit Hill police, on March 31, at 12:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 Block of West Ludlow street for a male wearing no shoes and slumped against a parked car. They found the individual just wearing a T-shirt, shorts and no shoes.

He was found to be highly intoxicated and charged with public drunkenness and underage drinking.

A Monroe County woman was jailed earlier this week on several charges including assaulting a police officer.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers were dispatched to Bill's Shop Rite in Mount Pocono about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, for a report of a female in the store intoxicated and then leaving the store with groceries she had not paid for.

While en route to the store police were told the female had re-entered the store and was continuing to shop. On arrival officers made contact with the female, later identified as Niambi Hamilton, 30, of Mount Pocono.

Melanie Dale, 104 Lansford Court, 28, On Feb. 29, at 2:42 p.m., police were dispatched to 104 Lansford Court for drug overdose. Investigation led that Dale bought some controlled substance and was had a bad reaction to them. There was a child in her apartment with her. She was charged with possesion of controlled substance and endangering the welfare of children.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers.

On April 16 about 7:21 p.m. officers observed what appeared to be a domestic incident occurring between a male and female in the parking lot of the Wawa store at state routes 115 and 940. The two subjects then left the lot with the male driving. The vehicle then pulled into a closed business and a few moments later the vehicle exited with the female driving.

Copper wiring was reported stolen from a remote tower site in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said 75-feet of the ground wire was removed from remote site along Tuscarora Mountain Road, in Schuylkill Township. The theft occurred sometime between April 21 and Wednesday, April 25. The listed victim of the theft is Green's Communications of Pottsville.

A Summit Hill man was charged for driving under the influence (DUI) after police investigated a one-vehicle accident.

According to Summit Hill police, on March 8, at 10:49 p.m., officers received a dispatch for an accident of a vehicle, which traveled over the guiderail in the area of 20 E. White Bear Drive.

An investigation revealed that the driver, Mark Goff, 36, of 315 N. Pine St., was intoxicated.

He was charged with two counts of DUI and careless driving.
