A Northampton County driver is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) charge following an incident that occurred in Jim Thorpe on Feb. 17, about 9:50 p.m.

Borough police said a green in color Ford Explorer was observed being driven the wrong way on Race St., a one way street. A vehicle stop was made and the driver was identified as William Michael Tworkowsky, 18, of 955 Wood Rd., in Danielsville.

A driver seriously injured in a one vehicle crash in Carbon County is facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges.

State police at Lehighton said James Buchanan, 37, of Palmerton, was operating a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck along 57 Road near Christman Road, in Towamensing Township, about 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, when the front end hit a tree along the berm.

Buchanan was transported by Palmerton ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for what troopers said were major injuries.

Summit Hill Chief of Police Joseph Fittos said his department issued 20 traffic citations and three non-traffic citations during the month of February.

One criminal arrest was filed at District Court for the month.

There were two juvenile referrals made to the Juvenile Probation Office.

The police department investigated six traffic accidents.

They gave 21 warnings.

Fifteen assist calls to other police departments were rendered during the month.

Two moving permit citations were filed for the month.

A Schuylkill County man was jailed following a domestic incident.

State police at Frackville responded to Middleport about 8 p.m. on Friday, March 16, for a reported domestic dispute. Through an investigation it was learned that James Paul Lake, 39, subjected Tonya Lee Kerns, 34, to physical contact by shoving and choking her at their residence.

He was placed under arrest for domestic simple assault and arraigned before District Judge David A. Plachko, of Port Carbon. He was unable to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.

A domestic incident in Monroe County led to the arrest of one person for assault and the second has drug charges pending.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, they responded to 8871 Coyote Drive, A Pocono Country Place, in Tobyhanna, for a domestic assault.

Upon arrival police learned that Souad Houmina, 29, was allegedly assaulted by Justin Wiley, 28, both of that address. While at the residence police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia belonging to Houmina.

Scarlet R. Roberts, of unknown address, was apprehended on March 18 after trying to steal four items valued at $18 from the Family Dollar store in Tamaqua. A citation was filed by Tamaqua Police Officer Peter Wysochansky.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two theft incidents.

Troopers said four chainsaws, a backpack leaf blower, tools, climbing saddles and spikes were removed from a vehicle parked behind the Mt. Effort Service Station, located along SR115 at Jonas Road, in Polk Township. The incident occurred sometime between March 9-11.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on arrests made by officers recently, two following traffic stops.

Police said on Sunday, March 18, about 1:56 a.m. a vehicle was stopped along SR196 at the Pen Mart in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township, after officers observed it being operated erratically.

A motorcyclist was injured in a crash in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, along Trumbo Road in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said Jason Manley, 25, of 21 S. Felty St., Pine Grove, was operating a 2007 Suzuki GSXR Moto northbound when he lost control and struck the guard rail along the berm.

Manley was seriously injured and flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, troopers said. Troopers noted Manley was wearing a helmet.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said the K&G Subs & Suds store, located at 242 Orchard St., in Auburn, was entered through an unlocked window. Once inside the criminals cut wires to a cash register and removed the register and a tip jar. The incident occurred sometime between 1 and 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, March 17.
