A vehicle stop in Schuylkill County led to the arrest of a passenger as a wanted person.

State police at Frackville said a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation about 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, along SR61 at the entrance to a Wal-Mart store in St. Clair.

A back seat passenger identified herself by name and birth date. A further check revealed the name and date provided was for a 53-year-old female from Abington, Montgomery County, who was now deceased.

A Monroe County man was cited for resisting arrest and simple assault following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 12:24 a.m. officers were dispatched to 5540 Seven Nations Drive, in the Pocono Farms development in Tobyhanna, for a report of a male had cut his wrist and was threatening suicide.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported they are investigating an unlawful detention/impersonation of enforcement officer incident. The incident was reported on Sunday, Aug. 8, by a female driver.

According to police, a silver Jeep with a male driver stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Elmwood Drive and Evergreen Road, in Indian Mountain Lakes development.

The female said the Jeep had blue strobe lights in the front grill of the vehicle.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on three separate retail theft incidents, with a total of seven people cited, at the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono, all occurring on Friday, Aug. 6.

At 3:08 p.m. officers responded to the store for three individuals in custody by store security for theft. The three were identified as Courtney Riley, 19, of Blakeslee, Ashley Gannon, 18, of Albrightsville, and Raiza Olivo, 18, of Long Pond.

Criminal charges have been filed against Joshua Barlip, 18, of 450 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, for three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, six counts of aggravated indecent assault, six counts of indecent assault, and three counts of incest. The incident occurred between July 3 and July 30 of 2009 at the above address.

Speeding

Cheryl Schaeffer, 34, of 1231 Main Road, Lehighton, was cited for speeding and expired inspection. The violations occurred on Aug. 8 at 10:37 a.m. on SR248 east.

State police at Lehighton are investigating an act of criminal mischief that occurred at a Carbon County location.

Dawn Darlene Seier, 67, of 200 Bear Creek Drive, Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, reported someone shot out the windows on her vehicle with a high powered BB gun.

No damage estimate was given.

The incident was reported at 8:32 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11.

A Lansford woman, who tested positive for marijuana, was arrested by Coaldale police after running a stop sign and almost hitting another car on July 9.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, by Officer Charles Andrew Blesse, Mary Ruth Ramsey, 18, of 247 E. Ridge St., faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI), driving with a suspended license, careless driving, and failing to obey stop signs.

A traffic stop by Pocono Mountain Regional police has led to drug charges against the driver.

Police said about 4:23 p.m .on Monday, Aug. 9, officers stopped a Chevrolet Suburban along SR916, south of the Penn-Mart store for vehicle code violations.

The driver was identified as Jonathan Aponte, of Tobyhanna. A further investigation revealed that the driver had possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said he will be charged with possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Tamaqua woman faces two counts of driving under the influence (DUI) and other charges after allegedly driving after imbibing.

In addition to the DUI charges, Barbara Bankes, 43, of 66 Bowe St., faces charges of violating the signals by hand and arm or signal lamps and driving on roadways laned for traffic laws.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported the arrest of a Berks County man for the robbery of a Schuylkill County bank. The robbery occurred about 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, at the Susquehanna Bank branch at 1251 Centre Turnpike (SR61), in Orwigsburg.

Troopers arrested Raddy Noel Toribio, 30, of Reading, on Monday, Aug. 9. He was taken into custody by Reading city police and turned over to troopers. He was arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $100,000 straight cash bail.
