A Carbon County driver, possibly involved in a hit and run in Northampton County, is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). State police at Lehighton reported on the incident as follows.

About 3:02 a.m .on Tuesday, Aug. 3, troopers were contacted by Bethlehem city police concerning a hit and run accident that occurred in their jurisdiction. A vehicle description and registration was provided.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred about 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, along SR924 in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Nathan D. Snyder, 27, of Pine Grove, was attempting to cross the road in his 1998 International Harvester truck at a local car dealership when he pulled into the path of a Chrysler Sebring operated by Brian K. Marhorn, 36, of Frackville, and the vehicles collided.

Troopers cited Snyder for vehicles entering or crossing a roadway.

State police at Schuylkill Haven released information on a drunk driving sobriety checkpoint conducted by troopers last weekend, Friday, July 30, at 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday.

The checkpoint was set up along SR183 in Cressona. There were 255 motorists contacted with one cited for driving under the influence (DUI); two for an expired inspection sticker and 16 written warnings handed out.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a theft incident that occurred at a Radio Shack in Monroe County.

The incident occurred between 5:45-6 p.m. July 24, at which time two suspects entered the store in the West End Plaza, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township.

At that time the suspects entered the location and purchased a cell phone with a stolen credit card number.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two vehicle crash about 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, along White St., in Bowmanstown, Carbon County.

Troopers said Terry M. Ahner, 33, of Lehighton, and Barbara G. Fisher, 78, also of Lehighton, both attempted to enter SR248 from White Street, the on ramp. Ahner's 2006 Kia Spectra struck the rear of Fisher's 2001 Jeep Laredo.

No one was injured.

Carol Williams, 44, of 50 Dowell St., Slatington, is facing charges of simple assault and harassment as a result of an incident Monday in the borough.

Police said she was cited after an incident at 7:30 p.m. at 361 Main St. No other information was provided by police.

Five adults and two juveniles were cited in Tamaqua following an underage drinking party Monday night.

Police received a tip concerning a possible drinking party in a garage on Brown Street and responded at 10:35 p.m. At the scene they heard several voices coming from the garage. Looking through a small opening, Patrolman Thomas Rodgers was able to observe several teenagers holding bottles of beer. Rodgers entered the garage through a rear door, causing the teens to open the overhead door where they found awaiting Patrolman Karl Harig.

A traffic stop by Pocono Mountain Regional police has led to drug charges.

Police said on Sunday, Aug. 1, about 12:22 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR940 at Knox St., in Mt. Pocono, for an expired inspection sticker. After a brief investigation the driver, Eric Zappulla, 22, of South Sterling, Wayne County, was found to have drug paraphernalia on him and his passenger, Wally Kripps Jr., 22, of Scotrun, had a small amount of marijuana on him. Both will have drug charges filed against them, police said.

Police also reported on other arrests.

Palmerton police reported on the following incidents.

Disorderly conduct

Keith Lawrence, 24, of 80 Hillside Avenue, Apt. 1, Palmerton, was cited for disorderly conduct. The violation occurred on June 28 at 2:26 p.m. in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue.

Citations were filed against Kyle Scherer, 23, of 220 Peter Avenue, Palmerton, for disorderly conduct and alcoholic beverages-prohibitions. The violations occurred on July 29 at 1:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue.
