Mahoning Township police are investigating the theft of $707 in cash and a radar detector from a vehicle.

Chief of Police Kenneth Barnes said a 36 year old New Ringgold man had stopped at the Big Lots store with his 4-year-old daughter. Barnes said the man parked his black 2004 Jeep Liberty in a parking space in front of the store.

A Carbon County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash about 5 p.m. on Friday, April 1, along Owl Valley Road, just north of Hummingbird Road, in Lynn Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Harry Eisenhower, 57, of Lehighton, was driving a 2006 GMC pickup truck northbound and going around a curve when he lost control on the wet road.

The truck went off the right side and into a wooded area where it rolled onto its right side and came to rest about 50-feet off the road.

Eisenhower was not injured with damages moderate to the truck, troopers said.

State police reported the arrest of a Carbon County resident for simple assault. Troopers said the incident occurred on March 31 about 8:53 a.m.

According to troopers John Jay Firestone, 51, of Albrightsville, went to the residence of his wife, Kelly Lorraine Firestone, at 190 Broad Mountain View Drive, in Penn Forest Township, at the time and date stated.

He went downstairs to her bedroom to give her a cup of coffee when he saw Michael F. Koma, 53, of Palmerton, sleeping on a couch in his wife's bedroom.

Dana Ruch, 57, of 251 S. Second Street, Lehighton, was cited for speeding. The violation occurred on March 20 at 10:35 a.m. on SR248 east.

A citation was issued to Steve Kittelberger, 72, of 160 Penarrow Road, Rochester, NY, for speeding. The violation occurred on March 22 at 10:22 a.m. on SR248 west.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, along Oak St., in the village of Sheppton, East Union Township.

State police at Frackville said Brian M. Furedi Jr., 21, of Sheppton, was driving a 2006 Nissan 350Z eastbound when the vehicle went off the road and struck a telephone pole on the south berm.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one- vehicle crash that occurred about 12:13 a.m. on Monday, April 4. It was one of two DUI arrests reported in Schuylkill County.

Two Tamaqua juveniles have been cited for a May 12, 2010, retail theft incident at the Tamaqua Turkey Hill Minit Mart, 330 E. Broad St.

At the time of the incident, police were unable to identify the duo. New information on the boys' identities became available on March 25.

According to police the two 14 year old males entered the store at 2:56 p.m. on the date above and proceeded to remove the contents of three condom packages. They left the packaging material behind when they fled.

Both teens were issued citations for retail theft.

State police at Lehighton reported on several thefts and other incidents.

Troopers said five storm grates were taken from the intersection of Pine and Lime streets in Bowmanstown sometime between March 25-28. The grates are valued at $1,625.

The state registration plate from the 1998 Hyundai Elantra of Christopher T. O'Rourke, 20, of Kresgeville, was stolen while it was parked at Red Fox Court in Polk Township, Monroe County. The plate, HJF9285, was taken sometime between March 29-31.

A Monroe County resident is facing a charge of scattering rubbish.

State police at Lehighton said Robert Coughlan, 42, of Gilbert, was charged after the Monroe County Litter Control reported that four garbage bags containing his personal information were found along Flythe Road, in Ross Township, on March 24.

A Monroe County woman is facing charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), following an incident that occurred on March 30 about 6 p.m. at the intersection of SR534 and Barry's Road, in Polk Township.

State police at Lehighton said troopers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the above stated location. Upon arrival the driver of a vehicle involved had fled the scene. She was identified as Beth Ellen Rivera, 26, of Stroudsburg.
