Jim Thorpe police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made recently.

Police said on Friday, March 30, about 5:29 a.m. officers were dispatched to 35 W. Seventh St., for a report of a female with a suspended license attempting to leave in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers were informed that Jamie L. Ruggiero, 36, of that address, was driving and intoxicated.

A large amount of diesel fuel leaked from one of two vehicles involved in a crash on Wednesday, May 9, at the intersection of SR901 and Interstate 81, in Foster Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Justin McRae, 34, of Sunbury, Northumberland County, was driving a 2004 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on 901 about 10:35 p.m. while Darren Southerland, 45, of Duncan, Okla., was stopped at the top of the off-ramp to I81 northbound driving a 2007 Volvo conventional truck and trailer.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on an investigation they conducted into the shooting of a dog by a security guard at the Indian Mountain Lakes Community in Albrightsville.

Police said on Tuesday, May 8, about 10:52 a.m. officers responded to 179 Upper Notch Road in the development for a report of a dog incident and shots fired. Upon arriving officers learned that a neighbor had called the development security department to report a loose dog in the area. The dog reportedly attempted to attack the caller's dog on the caller's property.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

Pocono Mountain Regional police said they conducted a traffic stop about 2:05 a.m. on Monday, May 7, along SR196 near Renaissance Lane, in Coolbaugh Township, after observing the driver committing several motor vehicle code violations.

The driver was identified as Richard M. Burke, 48, of Tobyhanna. Burke showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

A Schuylkill County woman is facing a charge of harassment following an incident that occurred about 1 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at 887 Ann St., Pottsville, in Norwegian Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Melissa Robinson, 31, became involved in a verbal argument with Daniel Ganly Sr., 42, at the stated address. She allegedly stepped on his right foot and punched him in the left side of his face.

Ganly suffered minor bruising to his face and foot, troopers said.

A student at a Lehigh County special education facility has been charged with assaulting a staff member.

State police at Fogelsville said the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 9, about 10 a.m. at the Lehigh Learning & Adjustment Center, located at 2936 Corporate Court, Lowhill Township.

Troopers said a 13-year-old male from Allentown was asked to leave a classroom due to being disruptive. Staff member Tara Kane, 37, of Slatington, began to escort the student from the room when he pushed her.

A Schuylkill County man is facing a charge of criminal mischief following an incident that occurred on May 1 about 8:45 a.m.

State police at Frackville said James Charles Wronski Jr., 23, of Mahanoy City, was cited for allegedly causing damages to the 1995 Saturn of Jeanette Cavanaugh, of Mahanoy City. The incident occurred along Roosevelt Drive, in New Boston, Mahanoy Township.

Damages were estimated at $1,935.

On March 24, Walmart reported a theft of $119.50 in frozen foods.

As a result of the investigation charges of retail theft were filed on May 7 against Joshua Dean of Albrightsville. Two juveniles were also cited.

On May 3, at 4:13 a.m., a single-vehicle accident was reported on Twin Crest Drive.

Police said the driver, Sabrina Allesch of Lehighton, left the scene. She was cited for leaving the scene of the accident.

On May 4, an injury accident occurred at the intersection of Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West, and Country Club Road.

State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, along SR895, in the area of Red Dale Road, in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said William M. Lindner, 34, of New Philadelphia, was operating a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound when he lost control while trying to avoid an animal on the roadway.

The car went onto the south berm and struck a tree.

After impact with the tree the car traveled across the westbound lane and onto the berm where it went down a small embankment and came to rest.

A woman, formerly of Monroe County and believed to be living outside the state, has been charged with theft and a related count and is being sought by police.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said they are seeking the whereabouts of Catherine Harper, 22, formerly of Long Pond. A criminal complaint charging her with theft and receiving stolen property has been filed.

According to police, on April 22 Christina Martinez reported that a gold chain and name plate was removed from her infant while at the Shining Star Day Care, located along SR940 in Pocono Summit.
