A Monroe County driver is facing charges following an incident that occurred early Tuesday morning, Dec. 6.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:30 a.m. officers attempted to stop a Nissan Maxima along SR940 in Blakeslee. Police said the driver entered the parking lot of the WaWa and then fled. Officers followed the Maxima into Greenwood Acres where the driver turned onto Birchwood Drive.

Lehighton Police Sgt. Joseph Lawrence reported that an attempted child abduction took place at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, near the playground area of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School.

A 7-year-old was playing in the fenced in area when the child saw a Rice Krispie Treat that was not in the wrapper. As the child walked toward the treat a man got out of a vehicle and invited the child to come and get it. The child instead said that it would get its grandmother and man got back in the vehicle and left the area.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers, both occurring on Tuesday, Dec. 6, along Schuylkill County roadways.

The first crash occurred about 12:25 p.m. along SR61, near Pheasant Run Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Joseph P. Graydus, 28, of Pottsville, was operating a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck southbound when the vehicle lost traction and began to spin counter-clockwise. Graydus applied the brakes but lost contol.

A Cumberland County man was arrested following a confrontation with a hunter on property he owns in Schuylkill County that included a gun-pointing incident and the shooting of a tire on a vehicle. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 6 a.m. on Nov. 28 along a dirt eastment near 49 Kushwa Road in Hubley Township.

Troopers said Frank J. Krammes, 44, of Sacramento, Schuylkill County, drove to the area and was attempting to hunt on the property stated above. He was confronted by Andrew D. Smeltz, 34, of Summerdale, who told Krammes he was trespassing.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft incident in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said the incident occurred at the residence of Carol Ann Bennett, 42, of 1923 E. Grand Avenue (SR209), in Tower City, Porter Township. Troopers said about 7:15 a.m. the suspect arrived at the residence and told the victim their car had broken down and asked to use her phone.

A Carbon County business has been cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board.

Logan's 209 Pub Inc., 635 E. Patterson St., Lansford, was cited for used, or permitted to be used on the inside of the licensed premises, a loudspeaker or similar device whereby the sound of music or other entertainment, or the advertisement thereof, could be heard on the outside. The alleged offense occurred on Sept. 30.

Both sides of a dispute have been cited.

State police at Frackville said the dispute occurred at the residence of Isabel Miller, of 819A Forest Lane, Forestville, Cass Township, about 6:15-6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Troopers said Isabel Miller and Michael D. Miller, 41, of Pine Grove, were involved in a confrontation that became physical. Troopers said both parties were issued citations for harassment.

Pocono Mountain Regional police are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Monroe County business.

Police said Amadeo's Pizza, located in Pocono Pines, was entered during the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 4. Removed was two cash registers, police said.

A Schuylkill County woman was arrested on a outstanding criminal warrant.

State police at Frackville said troopers were investigating a unrelated incident about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, along Church St., in Ryan Township, when they encountered Karrisa Aremar Correa, 22, of Barnesville.

A check revealed that Correa had an active warrant for her arrest issued to Frackville borough police for a felony receiving stolen property charge. She was taken into custody and later turned over to borough police.

A Carbon County man was jailed in the Schuylkill County prison, Pottsville, on Monday, Dec. 5, after Tamaqua Police Chief Dave Mattson arrested him for carrying a weapon.

Travis Cheslock, 37, of 9 Main St., Junedale, was arrested at 8:40 a.m. in the vicinity of Penn and Bowe streets after Mattson learned he was carrying a handgun. Cheslock is known to Mattson as a convicted felon and is therefore prohibited from having a firearm.
