Jeffrey A. Hayes, 47, of State College, was injured in a one-car crash Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, according to state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

Police said he suffered moderate injuries and was transporter to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, for treatment.

Two people from Kelayres have been charged in connection with the theft of a purse from the Hometown Commons Wal-Mart on Dec. 30.

Marah Walter, 23, and Andrew Danko, 23, were charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and access device fraud. The charges were filed by Rush Township Police.

When questioned, the duo admitted going to Wal-Mart with the intention of stealing a purse. They also used a credit card they obtained in an earlier theft.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating a burglary that happened at 7:55 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Pocono Country Place development.

Police said they responded to a burglary in progress at 2380 Winding Way and upon arrival found an open door in the back of the residence. Police said they were told a female inside the home was being assaulted.

When police entered the residence, they learned two male suspects fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Police said the female sustained an injury to her head and was treated by EMS responders.

A one-vehicle crash at 6:05 p.m. Jan. 15 along Rt. 940 in Monroe County has resulted in the driver facing drug charges.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Antonio Albino, 18, of Tobyhanna, was driving west on Rt. 940 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the eastbound lane, struck a guard rail and traveled down an embankment.

Police said their investigation revealed drug paraphernalia was inside Albino's vehicle at the time.

One vehicle sustained what police called "heavy damages" in a crash on Jan. 17 at 11 p.m. on State Rt. 893 in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Travis Garris, 22, of Andreas, was driving a 2006 Sabaru Impreza eastbound on Rt. 895 when it encountered patches/areas of ice on the roadway (black ice), causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Police said Garris was uninjured. The vehicle required towing from the scene.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said an Allentown woman who was involved in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 17 at 12:19 p.m. on Rt. 100 in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County, sustained "major injuries."

Police said Doris L. Nichol, 47, had to be extricated from her 1995 Chevrolet Blazer by personnel from the Goodwill and Community fire companies.

Police said she was treated by EMS personnel from the Northwestern Ambulance and transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said three victims are out $102,000 as a result of an incident they are calling a burglary.

The incident happened between Jan. 10-16 in the 8400 block of Valley Road in Fogelsville, Weisenberg Township.

The victims are Janes Elizabeth Hynes and James Edward Hynes, both of Fogelsville, and Kevin C. Hynes of Washington, D.C.

Police said someone used bank account and personal information to transfer and withdraw approximately $102,000 out of bank accounts belonging to the victims.

Shawn D. Hunter, 37, of Schuylkill Haven, was uninjured after a vehicle he was driving on Jan. 18 at 4:44 p.m. on the Blue Mountain Road in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County, went out of control and flipped over.

A 17-year-old boy from Valley View escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 18 at 6:06 p.m. on Township Route 450 in Hubley Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said the teen will be charged for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

State police at the Fogelsville arrested two persons for shoplifting after separate incidents at stores in Lehigh County.

Police said Michele L. Hock, 29, of Orefield, was charged with retail theft after an incident that happened between Dec. 30 of last year and Jan. 9 at Kohl's department store in Lower Macungie Township. Police said she entered the store and took various retail items, valuing $612.58, and later returned them to customer service without a receipt.
