Tamaqua police have filed charges related to a Jan. 1 incident at Freddy's Pub, Mauch Chunk St. Three individuals were allegedly involved in an altercation at 2 a.m. All three have been cited.

According to police, Nicole Swanson, 25, of 237 W. Patterson St., Lansford, had struck Justin Startzel, 21, of 234 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, in the head.

Startzel was then also allegedly struck by Swanson's friend, Charles Oliver, 48, of 1829 Pine Mill Rd., Equinunk, Wayne County.

All three were cited for harassment.

State police at Frackville reported apprehending a wanted person on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Troopers said while on routine patrol they found a disabled vehicle along SR895 at Evergreen Drive, in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Richard Pizzo, 27, of Barnesville.

A check revealed an active warrant for Pizzo's arrest for a parole violation was issued to the Schuylkill County Adult Probation office. Pizzo was taken into custody and transported to the county prison in Pottsville.

Rush Township police reported investigating two accidents, as well as making a drug arrest.

On Jan. 28 at 7:50 a.m., Brad J. Gerstein, 47, Shavertown, was traveling down the Mile Hill (SR309) when he lost control of his 2007 Ford Fusion due to weather conditions while negotiating a curve causing his vehicle to hit a guide rail. The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft from vehicle incident that occurred at a Schuylkill County location.

Troopers said Thomas Bailey, 40, of Camp Hill, Dauphin County, parked his vehicle along SR209 just east of Interstate 81, in Pine Grove Township. Unknown criminals smashed the driver's side window and removed several items.

Troopers said Bailey observed a male leaving the scene at the time on foot and heading east on 209 where he possibly got into a vehicle that was parked in the area.

The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

A dispute of snow removal has led to charges being filed against a Schuylkill County resident.

State police at Frackville said troopers were called to 128 Ogden St., Girardville, about 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2, for a report of two people in the street arguing over snow removal and parking.

Upon arrival troopers found Brandy Fahy, 28, and Robert Belfiore Jr., 39, involved in the argument. Troopers said they learned that Belfiore allegedly verbally harassed Fahy during the dispute.

Belfiore was charged with harassment.

A Lebanon County driver, who was involved in a crash on New Year's Day in which her passenger was killed, has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Fern Ridge said Crystal M. Stager, 20, of Lebanon, was driving drunk along Toll Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, about 6 a.m. Jan. 1 when her vehicle left the road while southbound and crashed into trees.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on two crashes investigated by troopers in recent days.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 4:25 a.m. on Jan. 28 along SR209 at the intersection with Silver Valley Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Sherneth A. Rowe, 37, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2005 Pontiac Vibe, when she pulled out from Silver Valley Road onto 209 and into the path of a southbound 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Todd A. Huff, 23, of Saylorsburg, and a collision occurred.

No one was injured in the crash. Troopers cited Rowe.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks released their statistical report of activities for the month of January.

In the traffic division there were 67 crashes investigated, two fatalities, five hit and runs, 22 injured, four drunk driving arrests, three DUI-related crashes, one DUI-related fatality, 193 citations issued and 10 warnings issued.

There were 619 incidents for the month. The report indicated there was no criminal offenses reported, founded, cleared or arrests made.

A Monroe County man has been charged with disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 2, about 11 a.m. outside 1116 Maple Lane, in Sun Valley, Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Brice House, of Effort, was allegedly outside the above-stated address shouting threats and using an obscene word multiple times.

Troopers said he is facing a fine of up to $300 and/or 90 days in jail if convicted.

A Monroe County man is facing a charge of scattering rubbish following an incident that was reported on Jan. 28.

State police at Fern Ridge said Mark Heller, of Stroudsburg, was charged for allegedly causing waste paper to be deposited along Running Valley Road, near Neola Road, in Jackson Township. The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 2:53 p.m., troopers said.

Troopers said Heller is facing a fine up to $300 and/or 90 days in jail, if convicted.
