A one vehicle crash in Schuylkill County led to the driver being charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Neil K. Langtry, 54, no address given, was operating a 1990 Honda Accod eastbound on SR443 in North Manheim Township, about 12:43 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, when he crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a utility pole along the berm. After impact with the pole the Honda flipped over onto the driver's side.

Langtry was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said, and refused to submit to a blood test.

A Northumberland County driver was cited at a checkpoint operation in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said John E. Long, 35, of Mount Carmel, entered the checkpoint about 10:20 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, which was set up along SR4029 in the village of Big Mine Run in Butler Township.

A routine check revealed that Long was wanted by the Union County Sheriff's Department and that his operator's license was suspended.

A suspect is being sought in an break-in that occurred in Ross Township, Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred about 12:25 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at a residence along Flythe Road. A white male was observed entering the home but was confronted by the homeowner and fled the scene in a black or dark-colored sedan.

The suspect was described as being about five-feet, 10-inches tall, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and work boots.

A domestic incident in Schuylkill County led to both parties being charged.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at 26 Hickory Court, in West Brunswick Township, on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

During the period of 2:15 and 2:20 a.m. Joan Evans, 63, and Brent Evans, 40, both of that address, became involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical when Joan threw a pot of noodle soup at Brent and he shoved her into the basement stairs.

Both were issued non-traffic citations for harassment, troopers said.

Disorderly conduct

Noah Schaeffer, 19, of 233 Coal Street, Lehighton, was cited for disorderly conduct. The violation occurred on Feb. 5 at 10:22 p.m. in the 700 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

Citations were filed against Wes Costenbader, 24, of 4702 Main Street, Whitehall, and Richard Robertson Jr., 28, of 617 Lehigh Avenue, Palmerton, for disorderly conduct. The violations occurred on Jan. 28 at 2:16 a.m. in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue.

A hit and run driver is being sought in Schuylkill County. The crash is one of two reported by state police at Schuylkill Haven,

Troopers said the hit and run occurred along Main St., in Porter Township. Troopers said an unknown vehicle was driven northbound in the village of Joliett and after rounding a curve it crossed over into the southbound lane. The vehicle then went onto the berm into the parking lot of the Joliett Fire Company.

Mahoning Township police are investigating the theft of a Hobart Airforce 250 CI Plasma Cutter.

The item reported was stolen from Tractor Supply, which is located along SR443.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.

State police at Lehighton said Thomas Leonard Verrastro, 21, of Lehighton, was stopped for a traffic violation along Alum St., in Lehighton.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 2:19 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, along W. Adamsdale Road in Schuylkill Haven.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jarred A. Kleckner, 25, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound and negotiating a left curve in the road. As the vehicle entered the straight portion it was going at a unsafe speed, troopers said.

A Carbon County driver was involved in a three vehicle, rear-end type, crash in which one driver was cited. State police at Fogelsville said the accident occurred about 2:56 p.m., on Feb. 17, at the on-ramp of the northeast extension of the turnpike, off Interstate 78, in Upper Macungie Township.

Troopers said Carl Mercincavage, 55, of Plains, Luzerne County, and James M. Gauriloff, 58, of Lehighton, were stopped on the on-ramp while Ronald S. Beverly, 22, of North Wales, Montgomery County, was eastbound on 78 and entering the on-ramp.
