A Carbon County man is facing a harassment count following an incident that occurred on Sunday, May 8, about 8:30 p.m. involving his dogs and a neighbor's dog.

State police at Lehighton said Dana Horning, 30, of Aquashicola, was walking her dog in the area of 7 Little Gap Rd., Lower Towamensing Township, when two pit bull terriers belonging to Richard Marsteller, 45, of Palmerton, exited his residence through an unsecured door and attacked Horning's dog.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating burglaries, thefts and acts of criminal mischief in recent days.

Troopers said the home of Johan Victor Olsen, 229A Walker Lane, Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime between April 18 and May 5. Entry was gained through a basement window. Removed from the residence was copper wiring, troopers said.

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers recently.

On Saturday, May 7, about 8:50 p.m. troopers stopped Howard Wolfe, 51, of Saylorsburg, along Old Route 115 near Kunkletown Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a motor vehicle code violation. Wolfe was found to be under the influence and was taken to the barracks for a breath test. He will be charged with DUI, troopers said.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks released their statistical report of activitives for the month of April.

In the criminal division there were 123 offenses reported, 120 founded, 86 cleared and 77 arrests made. In the traffic division there were 42 crashes, two fatalities, 11 hit and runs, 16 injured, 10 drunk driving arrests, four driving under the influence related crashes, no DUI-related fatalities, 179 traffic citations issued and 82 written warnings handed out.

There were 429 incidents for the month.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a harassment incident that occurred in Monroe County.

Troopers said Kelly Marie House, of the Effort area, and John Steven Decker, of the Brodheadsville area, were riding in her vehicle about 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, when they got into an argument.

During the argument Decker allegedly slapped House leaving a red mark. He was cited for harassment, troopers said.

Citations issued in Palmerton

Jolene Shultz, 30, of 518 Columbia Avenue, Palmerton, was cited for speeding. The violation occurred on April 30 at 1:29 p.m. in the 600 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

A citation was issued to Rebecca Fulton, 29, of 229 W High Street, Nesquehoning, for following too closely. The violation occurred on May 5 at 6:25 a.m. on SR248 east.

A Monroe County woman has been charged with retail theft for an incident at the Weis Market in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Jessica Lee Gonzalez, of Saylorsburg, was charged for allegedly taking $48.66 worth of merchandise and leaving the store without payint for it. The incident occurred about 4:44 p.m .on May 4, troopers said.

State police at Frackville are investigating the theft of a wallet at Koch's Turkey Farm, located at 416 Valley Rd., in Walker Township.

Marcus Miranda, 59, of Tamaqua, reported his black leather wallet containing about $130 in cash, a Social Security card, insurance cards, immigration card and state driver's license, was taken from the above location. Miranda said he left the wallet in the bathroom at the turkey farm about 1 p.m. on May 4 and reported it missing at 8 a.m. on May 6.

A Carbon County man is facing several charges stemming from incidents at his home, in a car and at a local hospital. Nesquehoning police identified the suspect as Christopher F. Yerger, 30, of 223 W. High St., Nesquehoning. He has been charged with two counts each of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

A Philadelphia resident was arrested on a drug charge at a state prison in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said they were called to the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy, located along Morea Road, in Mahanoy Township, about 12:38 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, for a person found to have marijuana on him.

Troopers said Christian Christmas was found with a small amount of marijuana. He was at the prison to visit a relative when guards discovered the drugs on him. He was cited for that offense and released.
