James Harris II, 34, of Blakeslee, was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, on charges relating to an assault case that was reported at 6:47 p.m., Dec. 24, at the Briar Crest Woods, Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said the man was taken into custody at his residence and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

The victim is Sherry DeHaven, 43, of Bangor.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks were summoned at 6:50 a.m., Dec. 9, to Limeport Pike in Lower Milford Township where two vehicles crashed.

Police said Nickole K. Knapp, 27, of Coopersburg, was driving a 2009 Dodge Caliber southbound when it encountered a large patch of black ice. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the northbound lane where it struck the front of a 2010 Lexus RX 350, operated by Dawn Ferketich, 59, of Green Lane.

State police at the Frackville barracks are investigating a burglary at a home in Tuscarora.

The breakin hapened between 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and 6 a.m. Dec. 29 at a residence on Chestnut Street.

Police said someone forcibly entered the home and removed various jewelry, coins and men's clothing.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a hit-and-run accident that happened between 2:15-2:30 a.m. Dec. 30 on Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township.

Police said the victim is William Betz, 62, of Schuylkill Haven, whose property was damaged by a runaway vehicle, possibly a Jeep Wrangler.

Nesquehoning police report the arrest of Jordan Michael Tessitore, 19, of 209 E. Patterson St., Lansford, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest stems from an incident on Dec. 19 at 2:59 p.m. at McDonald's, 180 Market St.

Police said they were called to the restaurant after an employee noticed drug paraphernalia in a car Tessitore was driving when he went through the drive-through serving line.

Upon responding and talking to Tessitore police found him to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A criminal mischief incident that happened between 7:30 p.m. Dec. 27 and 8 a.m. Dec. 28 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, is under investigation by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

The victim is an unnamed resident of 34 Lemond Drive in the township who told pollice someone removed two decorative plastic candy canes from the side of the mauilbox at the residence and proceeded to strike the mailbox with a blunt object, causing damage to the side of it.

Katrina Marie Vandling, 22, of 81 Jamestown Drive, Lehighton, is facing drug-related charges filed against her by Nesquehoning police, who said they were called to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in the borough after prison officials and sheriff's deputies found her to be in possession of the unlawful items.

Police said she was arraigned before District Justice Casimir Kosciolek on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a communications device by an inmate. She was retained in prison in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Nesquehoning police have arrested an inmate at the Carbon County Correctional Facillity in that borough with the assault of a correctional officer.

Police said Steven White, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault by a prisoner.

Nesquehoning police have arrested Russell L. Bahrey III, 35, of Hatfield, Pa., for drug-related charges stemming from an incident whereby he was transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in the borough and found to be in possession of marijuana.

Police said Bahrey was arrested on Dec. 3 at 5:40 p.m. by Beaver Meadows police, who picked the man up upon learning he was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant. Upon being searched at the prison, Bahrey was found to be in possession of a baggie that contained marijuana.

State police at the Frackville barracks are investigating a burglary that happened between 9 a.m. Dec. 24 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 28 at a cabin owned by the Wildcat Gun Club, 137 Wildcat Road, Walker Township.

Police said someone entered the cabin by forcing open a door on the south side of the building. Once inside, the actor(s) removed two beige-colored kerosene heaters, a blue 1,000-watt generator, two steel pool pumps, about 8-10 garbage bags of crushed aluminum cans, a 2-1/2-gallong clear fuel can, various lengths of electrical wire and an aluminum roof antenna.
