Several incidents were reported by the Mahoning Township Police Department.

They are:

Ÿ James and Shannon Rehrig of Lehighton have been charged with cruelty to animals as a result of an incident on July 3.

Police said that at 2:40 p.m. on that date, a 911 caller reported a dog locked inside of a vehicle with the windows up in the Carbon Plaza Mall parking lot.

The driver returned to the vehicle, and left before police arrived. At the time of the report the temperature was 90 degrees.

Several citations have been issued by the Lehighton Police Department.

Charged were:

Ÿ Richard E. Hartranft, 47, of Lehighton, cited twice for public drunkenness on Thursday, June 28. The first incident occurred in the vicinity of 223 N. First St. at 7:40 p.m. The second was at the trestle at 11:30 p.m.

Ÿ Anthony Dick, 29, of Bridge Street, Lehighton, was cited for passing a bad check in the amount of $191.95, written to Mallard Markets, Lehighton, on Saturday, May 5.

Jeffrey Schnettel of Tobyhanna, who was wanted by authorities in Northampton and Lehigh counties, was arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police at 1:20 a.m. July 11.

Police said the man was seen at his residence by security personnel at A Pocono Country Place, where he resides. Police arrived and arrested him in the garage on his property.

He was wanted on a warrant for theft and two other warrants, one in each of the above counties.

State police at Fogelsville are investigating a burglary at a Lehigh County home.

Troopers said the residence of James Thomas Landsfeld, 4719 Aziza Road, New Tripoli, Lowhill Township, and removed multiple items. The entry occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 25.

Coaldale police have charged a Northampton County man with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after taking $3,048 from a borough woman for roof repairs that were never done.

James Michael Deiter, 30, of 897 N. Summit Rd., Bath, allegedly took the money and ran, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Police Chief Tim Delaney.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police have reported the arrest of Jessica Franks, 23, of Tobyhanna.

Police said she is facing charges of simple assault, harassment, and possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from an incident that happened at 3 a.m. July 12 at 510 Belvidere Road, Pocono Farms East.

Pollice said they were called there by Laura Franks, the mother of the defendant, who reported that during an argument she had with her daughter, the daughter had bit her. Police said they observed the bite mark and bruising of the arm.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating an incident that occurred in Carbon County.

Troopers said the incident occurred at 83 Minisink Trail, Mt. Pocahontas, Penn Forest Township. Someone attempted to remove a screen from a window and then shot several other windows with a BB gun.

The property is owned by Armando Rudolph Defreitas, 64, of Ridgewood, N.Y.

The incident occurred sometime between Nov. 23, 2011, and July 8.

A New York state driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Joseph Ferrara, 51, of Staten Island, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint set up along SR715, near Possinger Road, in Jackson Township, about 10:20 p.m. on July 7.

Troopers said Ferrara initially failed to stop at the checkpoint and traveled through it at an unsafe speed.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a flag from a Schuylkill County residence.

Troopers said a 52x52 sewn cotton Confederate flag was removed from the property of Barry L. Stocker, 66, of 135 Main St., Klingerstown, Upper Mahantongo Township.

The theft occurred sometime between July 8-10.

A Schuylkill County man, wanted by the county sheriff's department, was apprehended this week following a vehicle stop.

State police at Frackville said Gene A. Parrish, 54, of Shenandoah, was stopped about 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the intersection of Main and Silver sts., Girardville.

At the stop a check was run and it was learned Parrish had a outstanding warrant for his arrest.

He was taken into custody and turned over to sheriff deputies, troopers said.
