Speed was blamed for a one vehicle crash that occurred about 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, along SR54, in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Amanda Ackroyd, 24, of Shenandoah, was operating a 2007 Ford Focus westbound and traveling too fast for conditions when she lost control.

The car crossed over the eastbound lane and traveled about 65-feet where it struck a rock wall along the east berm. The car then spun counter-clockwise about 180-degrees where it came to rest along the berm against the rock wall and partially in the travel lane.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes, including two hit and runs, investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 2:10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, along Red Church Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Gabrielle A. Accordino, 20, of Auburn, was driving a 2000 Saturn SL2 southbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the edge of the road and struck a tree with the passenger side. Upon impact the car spun about 90-degrees coming to rest across the south lane.

A Jim Thorpe woman was jailed following a domestic incident.

Borough police responded to 52 W. Fourth St., about 10:51 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, to a report of a domestic incident. On scene officers were told by Kyle Strohl that he had been assaulted by his wife, who he said was under the influence of alcohol. Officers noted Strohl had bruises to his face and arms.

Two persons were cited following an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said about 9:55 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, they were dispatched to 6 Chapel Lane, Gilberton, for a report of an assault incident. On scene troopers were told by John Blashock, 43, of Gilberton, that he was hit in the face with a glass bottle by Connie Delowery, 47, also of Gilberton. Troopers noted that Blashock had injuries consistent with his allegations.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes, including a hit and run, that occurred on Schuylkill County roadways.

A crash occurred about 9:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, along Brookside Drive in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Timothy R. Nagle, 46, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee eastbound when the vehicle left the road on the right side due to icy conditions. The Jeep struck a tree with the right front portion and then spun clockwise 180-degrees.

An icy roadway was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 8:43 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, along Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Philip W. Covell, 47, of Vienna, Va., was operating a 1996 Toyota Previa northbound when he crossed a bridge that was icy. Covell lost control of the vehicle which traveled through the left lane for about 120 feet before going onto the grass median.

Summit Hill police are investigating a burglary which is believed to have occurred sometime Sunday evening at the Midas Touch Hair Salon, 46 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill.

Chief of Police Joseph Fittos said taken during the burglary was a cash register with cash inside it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-645-7429.

"We're hoping that if someone brings a cash register home, that people will know it was probable stolen," Fittos said.

A Monroe County man is facing charges following an incident that occurred on Friday, Jan. 13.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 3:06 a.m. they were called to the Leach residence at 339 Clearview Drive, in the Emerald Lakes development in Tobyhanna Township. A female at the residence said Joseph Leach, 26, of Long Pond, was at the home and had assaulted another member of the family and left the residence.

State police at Lehighton are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred on Friday, Jan. 13, about 4:20 p.m.

Troopers said unknown criminals arrived at the residence of Carol Klump, 200 block of Little Gap Rd., Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, and threw a full can of Bud Light beer at the home causing damage to the siding. They also threw eggs at the home on two separate occasions, troopers added.

A Monroe County man is facing a charge of arson and other counts following an incident that occurred about 3:57 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.

State police at Fern Ridge said they received multiple calls from witnesses of a barn on fire along Astolat Road, near SR115, in Chestnuthill Township, at the time and date stated. The callers identified a man at the scene as being in a gold in color Ford Taurus before and during the fire, then leaving the scene. The suspect was stopped and taken into custody.
