State police at Fern Ridge reported on a burglary and theft incidents investigated by troopers recently.

The break-in occurred at 45E Fairgrounds Rd., in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Sometime between 7 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. on June 29 unknown criminals entered the home and removed a Slyvania 37-inch digital LCD televsion. Troopers declined to name the victim.

James Patterson, 17, of Saylorsburg, reported his wallet was stolen from 21 High View Drive, Chestnuthill Township, sometime between 10:45 p.m. on July 2 and 8 a.m. on July 3.

State police at Frackville reported the arrest of a Schuylkill County woman for simple assault

Troopers said on Monday, July 5, about 9 p.m. Bobbi Jo Smith, 30, of Freeland, and Roseann Card, 28, of Ebervale, engaged in a verbal argument at 213 Sherman St., McAdoo. Smith allegedly then struck Card with a closed fist above her left eye, causing a large laceration above her eye. Troopers said Card had to seek medical attention at the Hazleton General Hospital.

A Schuylkill County motorcyclist was involved in a crash in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Joseph J. Alex, 61, of Lost Creek, Shenandoah, was eastbound on Lower Macungie Road in Lower Macungie Township, about 4:43 p.m. on Monday, July 5, when he was approaching the intersection with Macungie Road. He saw vehicles stopped ahead of him and decided to lay his bike down rather than strike any of the stopped vehicles.

State police at Lehighton will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint along with roving DUI patrols this weekend, from Friday, July 9, through Sunday, July 11, in Carbon and Monroe counties.

A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week following a gun pointing incident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Andrei Walsh, 22, of Orwigsburg, was arrested following an incident that occurred about 4 a.m. on Monday, July 5, at 1912 Fair Rd., in Wayne Township. Troopers said Walsh had a prohibited offensive weapon (sawed-off shotgun) with an obliterated manufacturer's number and aimed it at a 25-year-old Schuylkill Haven female and in the direction of her residence after having a fight with her father.

In an accident photo that appeared in the TIMES NEWS on Friday, July 2, concerning an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a car, the information was incorrect.

The report from state police at Lehighton stated that a Toyota Corolla operated by Richard Lee Hall, 67, of Lehighton, struck a Polaris ATV driven by Nitah Akinyi Otieno, 24, of Stroudsburg, about 5:46 p.m. on July 1, at SR209 and Raymond St., in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said the collision occurred as Otieno attempted to cross 209 from Raymond Street.

Rush Township Police are investigating a burglary on June 26 at 705 Claremont Ave. in Hometown. Copper pipes and a sawzall were discovered missing.

On June 26 at 9:55 p.m. at Tuscarora State Park, Susan Whalen, 54, of Tamaqua was found to be smoking marijuana, police said. She is facing marijuana, drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness charges.

State Police in Frackville arrested a Schuylkill County man for driving under the influence Monday, July 5.

Christopher Timko, of Lost Creek, was stopped for speeding when an officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, as well as other visible signs of intoxication. Timko failed field sobreity tests and was later transported to the Frackville Barracks, where an intoxication test yieled a BAC higher than .08 percent.

Police are charging Timko with driving under the influence and violating a posted speed limit.

A Schuylkill County man was charged with violating a protection from abuse order July 2.

State Police in Frackville said that Richard Ludwig Jr., of Ringtown, injured Rhonda Ludwig, of Frackville, when he grabbed her by the arm in her home in Ringtown.

Ludwig Jr. was later arraigned on a charge of indirect criminal contempt.

State Police in Frackville responded to the scene of an accident in Mahanoy Township Saturday, July 3.

Melvin Pearson, of St. Petersburg, Fla., was traveling northbound on Vulcan Road when he struck the vehicle of David Bickowski, of Mahanoy City, who was traveling eastbound on Route 54. Pearson failed to yield to traffic and collided with Bickowski in the eastbound side of the two roads' intersection.
