Lehighton Borough police have reported the arrest of a 17-year-old Lehighotn boy for the illegal use of tobacco in school.

Police said they issued the citation on March 7 at 7:15 a.m. after the boy was seen smoking on school property.

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a burglary in which copper piping was taken from a residence in Lower Towamensing Township.

The incident was reported at 6:30 p.m. March 7. The victim is Robert D. Weller, 72, of Liverpool, N.Y.

He reported soemone removed the piping from his residence at 3560 Hahn's Dairy Road in the township.

Ryan Christopher Bush, 27, an inmate at the State Correctional Institute, West Mahanoy Township, has been arrested by state police at the Frackville barracks in connection with an incident whereby he attempted to have drugs brought into the facility.

Police said he is charged with one count of criminal solicitation and two counts of criminal conspiracy.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating a criminal mischief incident that happened between midnight March 3 and 11:30 a.m. March 4 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

The incident happened at 107 Arthur Lane in the township when someone damaged the mailbox of the property owner.

Two persons were cited for disorderly conduct by state police at the Fogelsville barracks after they were summoned to a disturbance at 2:45 a.m. March 8 at the Bandit Truck Stop in Weisenberg Township.

Ppolice said Clynton Hatcher, 20, and a 16-year-old female, were issued the citations after they engaged in a dispute in the parking lot of the stop which is located at 2277 Golden Key Road in the township.

Jarett Smith, 21, of Stroudsburg, has been arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police with possession of marijuana.

Police said they conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 940 and Industrial Park Road in Mount Pocono for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on March 6, at which time officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, police uncovered the marijuana and determined the owner of the illegal drug was Smith, who was an occupant in the vehicle.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks are investigating a burglary that happened between 7:10 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. March 6 at a home in Lower Macungie Township.

The victim is Nancy Davis, 62, of 2209 Wisteria Road in the township.

She told police someone entered the residence through an unlocked back door and proceeded to steal electronics and several pieces of jewelry before fleeing in an unknown means of transportation.

Katharine Diana Eslinger, 21, of Tafton, has been arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police on a charge of retail theft (shoplifting).

Police said the incident happened on March 7 at the WalMart store in Mount Pocono.

Police said the store's loss prevention personnel caught the woman removing tags from several items and attempting to leave the store without paying for them.

A Lansford woman has been charged for bringing controlled substances into the county prison in Nesquehoning.

Nesquehoning police charged Shari Frances Jones, 45, of 446 E. Patterson St., Apt. B, with possession of a controlled substance, contraband by an inmate, and two counts of prohibited acts, penalties, in possession of a controlled substance or paraphernalia.

On Jan. 30 Officer Dana O'Brien was called to the county jail by deputy warden Timothy Fritz for an inmate found to have drugs in her cell. Jones was in the jail doing a weekend sentence.

Andrew John Arnold, 23, of Brodheadsville, was injured in a one-vehicle crash March 6 at 3 a.m. on Stagecoach Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
