A Monroe County crash led the a driver facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). The DUI arrest is one of two reported by the Pocono Mountain Regional police.

Police said on May 12 officers responded to a one car crash along SR611, between Midway Road and SR423. The investigation revealed that Jason Mitchell, 26, of Tobyhanna, was northbound at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass another vehicle by going off the road and onto the shoulder. He lost control of his car and crashed into the guard rail.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI), following an incident that occurred about 2:06 a.m. on May 22 along SR61. It was one of two arrests made at traffic stops.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers were on patrol at the time and date stated in Mt. Pocono and southbound when they observed a vehicle exit the lot at Burks Tavern. The officers had to apply the brakes on their cruiser to avoid a collison as the vehicle pulled in their path.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 4:05 p.m. on Friday, May 20, along SR33 in Hamilton Township.

State police at Lehighton said Jan P. Racavich, 55, of Kunkletown, was stopped after being observed driving southbound erratically. He was found to be under the influence and alcohol or a controlled substance. He failed field sobriety tests and was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.

A Lehigh County woman is facing charges following an incident that occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at 7395 Lincoln Court, in Lynn Township.

State police at Fogelsville said Kristyn Marie Frank, 29, of New Tripoli, entered the residence of Frank Omar Vega, 29, and got into a verbal argument with him. The argument turned physical when Frank allegedly punched Vega in the face several times with an open and closed fist. Vega sustained a swollen and bloodied nose along with a swollen left ear. Behind the ear a large black and blue mark and bleeding was observed.

State police at Lehighton reported a large amount of valuable jewelry was taken in a Monroe County burglary.

Troopers said the residence of Mary Kositz, 51, of 5612 Mount Eaton Rd., Saylorsburg, Ross Township, was entered sometime overnight of May 26-27. Entry was gained through an open window.

The jewelry was in a jewelry box.

A Monroe County man is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence (DUI), simple assault, fleeing and eluding, all stemming from a domestic incident.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were dispatched to 44 Fairgrounds Rd., in Chestnuthill Township, on May 19 for a domestic incident involving an assault. Upon arrival troopers observed the suspect in the incident, identified as Martine Taylor Jr., 42, of Gilbert, sitting in the car of the victim, whose name is being withheld. Taylor and the victim had gotten into a verbal dispute that turned physical.

Both sides in an altercation that occurred about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, were cited.

State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred along SR209 at Luna Rosa, in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Daniel Patrick Casey, 34, of Roebling, N.J., and Paul H. Christman, 40, of Sciota, engaged in an altercation at the above location. Both were issued a citation for harassment.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on arrests made by officers recently.

On Monday, May 30, about 10:39 p.m. officers were dispatched to 2239 Kensington Terrace in the Pocono Farms development for a victim of a fight requesting an ambulance. On scene officers spoke with Erik Lane, 28 of 144 Geering Terrace, Paramus, N.J., who was bleeding from a cut on his chin and complaining of pain to his front teeth.

State police at Lehighton reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers.

On May 13 at 10:04 p.m. troopers stopped James D. Bodai, 43, of Wind Gap, along Kunkletown Road at Ross Road in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a stop sign violation. At the stop Bodai was found to be under the influence and was taken for a test. The charge is pending.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 12:15 a.m. on May 26 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said James A. Britton Jr., 31, of Mifflinburg, Union County, was eastbound operating a 2004 Volkswagen and entered a right curve. The vehicle left the road and struck guide rails on the left shoulder, then traveled back across both lanes and struck guide rails on the right side.

Britton was injured and taken to the Geisinger Wyoming Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County, by Lake Harmony ambulance.
