Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers recently.

A Monroe County woman is facing DUI and other counts following a hit-and-run accident that occurred about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, along Center Avenue in Mt. Pocono.

Police responded to the area near Oak St. for a report of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) hitting a telephone pole and the driver fleeing the scene. The vehicle was located down an embankment in the area of 28 Center Avenue and a female was found in it.

A Pottsville man was cited for "huffing" outside a Schuylkill County mall.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said about 5:28 pm.. on Sunday, Sept. 26, James E. Marconis Jr., 22, was found on the sidewalk outside the former Value City Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township, in what appeared to be an intoxicated condition. Found in his possession was a 10-ounce can of "dust off".

Marconis told troopers he purchased the can from a store in the mall and had been "huffing" the can's contents for about 30 minutes prior to the arrival of troopers.

A student has been cited for an incident at the Palmerton Area High School in Lower Towamensing Township, involving a teacher.

State police at Lehighton said a 16-year-old male was cited for disorderly conduct for using vulgar and obscene language toward teacher Darlene M. Mack, 61, while being in detention at the school.

The incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 17, troopers said.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a act of criminal mischief that occurred at the West End Fairgrounds in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said unknown criminals damaged several sinks, a mirror, and a door at the fairgrounds. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

An incident at a youth baseball game has led to charges being filed.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred at a youth baseball game held at the West End field, located off Fairgrounds Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, about 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Troopers said during the game between teams from Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg, Karen Deegan, 43, of Brodheadsville, was ejected from the game by the umpire for allegedly failing to stop cursing and using obscene language after disagreeing with a play and how the umpire handled the situation.

State police at Lehighton reported on the following arrests made by troopers recently.

On Sept. 23 about 10 a.m. troopers responded to Valley Road East, in Polk Township, Monroe County, to a report of harassment. Troopers said Isaac Houston Purcell, 31, of Lehighton, and Matthew Pepe, 27, of Saylorsburg, allegedly threatened to do bodily harm to Dana Lee Moore, 29, of Kunkletown.

Both Purcell and Pepe were cited for harassment, troopers said.

A Montgomery County driver was killed in an early morning, one-vehicle crash in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, along Kings Highway, south of Janes Lane, in Lower Milford Township.

Troopers said Aaron S. Keller, 27, of East Greenville, was driving a 1997 Acura Integra southbound when, for unknown reasons, the car exited the road to the right across from Janes Lane and struck a tree on the front passenger side. The car then rotated clockwise and struck a utility pole on the driver side door.

Three Carbon County residents were cited for retail theft following an incident in Lehigh County. State police at Fogelsville said the incident occurred at the Walmart store at 1091 Millcreek Rd., in Lower Macungie Township, on Sept. 21 about 6 p.m.

Troopers said the three were observed removing clothing and tags from store racks. They then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise.

The three were identified as Ann Conroy, 44, Holly Filer, 25, and a 15-year-old female, all from Lehighton. The trio were also charged with criminal conspiracy-theft.

Tamaqua Police are investigating the reported theft of a stainless steel sink, removed from a doorway at 224 W. Broad St. The sink was reported stolen at 4:50 p;m. on Wednesday by Steven Bennett, who is remodeling the property.
