John Geisinger, 66, of Lower Macungie Township, was committed to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, following his arraignment Sept. 1 on a charge of attempted criminal homicide.

Police said he is being held on $1-million bail pendig a preliminary hearing.

State police at Fogelsville, who made the arrest, said they responded at 12:50 p.m. to the Geisinger residence where John's wife, Louella, reported she had been hit in the back of her head 4-5 times with a baseball bat by her husband.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said copper wiring and brass fittings were stolen in a burglary that happened between 11 a.m. Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. Aug. 31 in Monroe County.

Police said the materials were stolen from a pumping station shed owned by the Pa. American Water Company. It is located off old Rt. 115, near Ross Commons in Ross Township.

Robert Smith of Polk Township was arrested by state police at the lehighton barracks on a charge of disorderly conduct after an incident at 9:07 p.m. Aug. 30 at 10 Valley Road West, Polk Township.

Police said the victim in the case is Doug Cramer, also of Monroe County. No other information on the incident was released by police.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said a garbage truck caught fire at 8;15 a.m. Sept. 1 while it was traveling uphill on Rt. 209 in Branch Township.

Police said the driver of the 2002 Peterbilt trash truck was Daniel Bakerofskie, 49, of Girardville. Neither he nor two other occupants of the vehicle were injured.

Police said the truck's transmission failed while the truck was climbing the hill, resulting in the fire. The Good Intent Fire Company, Llewellyn, responded and extinguished the fire.

Tammy Lee Conklin, 41, of Lehighton, will be charged by state police at the Lehighton barracks with criminal mischief as a result of an incident that took place between 9:30-9:45 p.m. Aug. 19 at 80 Red Hill Road, Towamensing Township.

Police said the victim is Michael Thomas Conklin, 26, of Summit Hill. Police said he appeared at the above location, at which time he was greeted by the suspect with a baseball bat, which she used to strike the victim's vehicle with the bat, causing $786.73 in damages.

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a burglary that happned between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 31 at Frank's Pizzeria, Rt. 209, Polk Township.

Poilice said actor(s) gained entry to the business by forcing open a side window and cutting through a screen.

Once inside, they removed $40 from the cash register before fleeing the scene.

The Pa. Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has filed charges against two local businesses for violating state liquor laws.

Officials reported the Middleport Inn, 18 Coal St., Middleport, is facing a charge of selling alcoholic beverages after its restaurant license expired on March 31. The offense took place on May 10.

The Tiki Bar, 20 Mauch ChunkSt., Tamaqua, was cited for offering and/or giving liquor and/or malt or brewed beverages as a prize on April 28.

Jerome L. DiGiovanni, 41, of Frackville, was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, on Aug. 28, on charges that he violated a Protection From Abuse order issued by the county court.

He was arraigned before District Judge Elizabeth Romig and incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Police said he turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest. It is alleged he made contact with a 39-year-old Frackville woman who has the restraining order against him. the incident took place in West Mahanoy Township at 1:20 a.m. Aug. 28.

State police at the Lehighton barracks report they are looking for Antonio Suarez, 17, who authorities said ran away from his foster home on Aug. 29.

Police said the boy left the home between 2-9 a.m. and is believed to have fled to a friend's home in the Carbondale area. The foster home is located at 112 Pine Court, Ross Township.

Suarez is described as being 5-2, 145 pounds with short brown hair (buizzed haircut). He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a Yankees hat.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a theft by unlawful taking case in which a sign was removed from a site at Rt. 125 and Creek Road in Eldred Township.

The victim is Wendy S. Steich, 46, of Pitman.

Police said someone removed a "Tasty Takeouts" sign from the premises and fled the scene undetected. the sign is valued at $250.
