State police at Lehighton reported on the following driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers.

About 1:56 a.m. on Aug. 22, troopers stopped Dane Evan Williams, 21, of Blakeslee, along Merwingsburg Road, west of SR115, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, for a vehicle code violation. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. He was taken into custody and will be charged.

A 17-year-old Weatherly male faces charges of retail theft after being cited by Rush Township Police, for allegedly taking $49.70 worth of merchandise from the Hometown Commons Walmart.

The incident reportedly took place at 11 a.m. on Aug. 17.

Rush Township police recently responded to several incidents at the Pines Motel along SR309.

Following one incident, Benjamin A. Kuzo, 19, of Nesquehoning, and Ashtyn G. Mark, 23, of Liverpool,Perry County, were cited for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kuzo was also charged with underage drinking, while Mark faces charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

A Lehighton woman is facing charges for bringing contraband into the county prison in Nesquehoning.

Borough Police Chief Sean Smith and Officer Thomas Kurtz received information from personnel at the prison on Aug. 5 that when Kristin N. Eschbach, 30, of 212 N. Seventh St., was brought to the prison marijuana was found in her purse.

Police said Eschbach was brought to the jail by Lehighton police on unrelated charges. During a search of her personal property, prison personnel found suspected marijuana in her purse.

A driver was cited following a rear-end crash that occurred on Aug. 17 along SR209 at the entrance to a McDonald's restaurant in Nesquehoning.

Police Chief Sean Smith reported that a 1996 Geo Tracker operated by Joseph Smith, of 106 Kaysec Lane, Lehighton, struck the rear of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid driven by Christine Parrish, of 219 E. McMurtire St., Summit Hill.

A husband and wife involved in a domestic dispute over custody of their children were both cited, state police at Frackville reported.

The incident occurred about 10:11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 322 Hobart St., in Gordon. Troopers said Kristen Brzoska, 28, of Mahanoy City, and Steve Brzoska, 36, of Gordon, went to the home of their babysitter for their children. An argument ensued between the two over custody of the children.

The husband claimed his wife punched him in the head and she claimed he kicked her in the shin.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on a one- vehicle crash that occurred about 10:09 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, along SR443 (Suedberg Road), in Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill County, in which one driver was charged.

Troopers said Carisma M. Curry, 31, of Allentown, was stopped in the westbound lane waiting to turn left onto Hollow Hill Road when her 2002 Cadillac CTS was struck in the rear by a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven westbound by Jonathan Hardy, 42, of Pine Grove.

Hardy sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers along Carbon County roads.

A two-vehicle crash occurred about 12:18 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township. Troopers said the crash occurred as Victoria J. Carden, 18, of Palmerton, operating a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, was attempting to turn right into a driveway when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Betty A. Waxter, 41, of Palmerton.

A Schuylkill County driver was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, along Interstate 81 in New Castle Township.

State police at Frackville said Steven Wikle, 42, of Frackville, was operating a 1999 Ford Escort northbound when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road and crossed the right northbound shoulder and onto a grassy roadside culvert. After hitting a rocky embankment with its front right corner, the car rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels along the shoulder of the road.

State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash west of Tamaqua. Troopers said the crash occurred about 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, along SR209 (Valley St.), in Blythe Township.

Troopers said Charles D. Strouse III, 21, of New Philadelphia, was operating a 2001 Subaru Forester northbound toward Tamaqua when he lost control. The car crossed the southbound lane and struck a dirt/rock embankment along the berm, then a tree off the west side.
