Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests, both occurring on Saturday, Oct. 27.

About 2:30 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along SR311, near Midway Road, in Tobyhanna, for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Rafael Dionysius, 49, of Pocono Summit.

He was found to be under the influence and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge in pending the test results.

State police at Lehighton reported the results of roving DUI patrols conducted over the past weekend.

Troopers said five motorists were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) or alcohol or a controlled substance. Additionally there 12 motorists were drinking but released after passing field sobriety tests.

There were 18 citations issued and two other motorists were cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Retail theft

Criminal charges were filed against Denise Rex, 61, of 1105 Hamilton Street, Lehighton, for theft by deception, and five counts of forgery. The incident occurred on April 29, 2008, in the 700 block of Lafayette Avenue.

Criminal charges were filed against Lorene Goerlitz, 36, of 3763 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton, for retail theft. The incident occurred on Oct. 8 at 1:14 p.m. in the 500 block of Delaware Avenue.

A Slatington man was cited for retail theft at a Lehigh County store.

State police at Fogelsville said William Andino, 41, was cited at the Walmart store, at 1091 Mill Creek Road, in Lower Macungie Township, about 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Troopers said store security observed Andino allegedly attempting to remove a television, valued at $198, from the store without paying for it.

Nesquehoning police reported the following citations were issued on Oct. 25.

Speeding, 63 miles-per-hour in a 40 zone, and 52 in a 40, both at state routes 209 and 93; driving on roadways laned for traffic, at the same location; general lighting requirements, same location; maximum axle weight vehicles-lift axle, triaxle traveling with load without having his lift axle on the roadway on SR54 and Tippets Road.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted burglary and a theft incident, both in Schuylkill County.

The attempted break-in occurred at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 1 E. Caroline Ave., East Norwegian Township, Saint Clair. Troopers said unknown criminals attempted to pry open an entry door on the south side near the social hall boiler room, to gain entry.

Entry was not made but damages were reported to the steel door, door frame, and door knob. The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. and Oct. 25 at 10:25 a.m.

Disorderly conduct

Kelly Schroeter, 40, of 939 Mauch Chunk Road, Apt. 6, Palmerton, was cited for disorderly conduct. The violation occurred on Oct. 5 at 3:28 a.m. at the above address.Harassment

David Washburn Jr., 22, of 607 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, was cited for harassment. The violation occurred on Oct. 15 at 4:54 p.m. in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue.

Speeding

Jeffrey Hosier, 44, of 316 Bridge Street, Weissport, was cited for speeding. The violation occurred on Oct. 16 at 5:15 a.m. on SR248 east.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a traffic stop.

State police at Frackville said Bernard M. Skaudis, 55, of Brandonville, was stopped about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, along SR924, near the village of Brandonville, in East Union Township.

He was found to be under the influence and was transported to a Pottsville area hospital for a blood test. Troopers said charged will be filed.

A Lebanon County teen was cited following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, along SR443 (Suedberg Road), in Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 17-year-old male from Jonestown was driving a 1992 Saturn westbound and entered a left curve in the road. The car went onto the berm and into a grassy area for about 126-feet before hitting a culvert with the passenger side rear tire.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Dennis Elliott Giffels, 60, of Brodheadsville, was stopped for multiple traffic violations about 11:24 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, along Brookside Road at Spruce St., in Lower Macungie Township.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. Charges will be filed, troopers said.
