State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating the following crashes on Schuylkill County roadways.

A hit and run occurred in the vicinity of 37 Main St., in Klingerstown, Upper Mahantago Township, about 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. Troopers said a vehicle was driven northbound and struck a parked 1997 Chevrolet Z24 Cavalier, with the driver then fleeing the scene.

The hit and run vehicle is possibly a 2011 or 2012 white in color Dodge Journey last seen headed toward the village of Erdman.

Two burglaries at two Schuylkill County locations are being investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said the home of Tara Anne Smithmeyer, 39, and Pauline Clara Sadusky, 84, both of 301 Walnut St., Norwegian Township, was entered sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, and 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Removed from the home was about $1,350 in cash and medication consisting of about 50 clonazepam and six hydrocodone pills.

Troopers noted that the investigation is continuing and that there is an 18-year-old male suspect.

Pocono Mountain Regional police are investigating a burglary at a Monroe County residence.

Police said the home at 1687 Cotswold Road, Pocono Farms East, was entered sometime during the past six months. The break-in was discovered and reported at 11:16 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, by a relative of the homeowner. The owner was identified as Josephine Augello, 82, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Police said there was extensive damage done to the interior of the home.

A Schuylkill County woman is facing a charge of retail theft following an incident at a county department store.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Brittany Zelinsky, 21, of Mahanoy City, was arrested on Oct. 9 about 5 p.m. at Boscov's Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Zelinsky was observed by store personnel placing numerous clothing, jewelry, perfume/cologne items on her person and exiting the store without paying for them.

Troopers also are investigating another theft incident at the store.

A truck crash shut down a busy Schuylkill County road for several hours on Sunday. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 12:10 p.m. along SR61, just south of the Mount Carbon arch jughandle, in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Johanthan Hobelman, of Westfield, Ind., was operating a 1995 International tractor with trailer northbound in the right lane hauling 34,000 pounds of aluminum.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 12:55 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, along N. Cetner St., at Race St., in Pottsville.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Michael A. Killian, 23, of Cressona, was stopped for a traffic violation after he failed to come to a complete stop and pulled across N. Center St., from Race, directly in front of a state police vehicle.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, troopers said.

State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County facility in which vintage fire vehicles are stored.

The entry occurred at a former cigar plant and storage facility along White Owl Road, in Mahanoy Township, just outside Mahanoy City.

Entry was gained by prying a lock off an entrance door to the large facility where the fire apparatus is stored. The criminals then broke another lock of an interior storage room. The facility was rummaged through by the intruders. It has not yet been determined if anything was taken.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an incident in Schuylkill County in which a person shot BB pellets at two vehicles which were occupied at the time. The incident occurred between 2:30 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, along Broad St., in the area of railroad tracks, in Port Clinton.

Troopers said the unknown criminal fired from a hillside off the road at a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, which was occupied at the time by Joseph and Monica Freiberg, of Springfield, Pa., and a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Bradley Schmoyer, of Breinigsville, Lehigh County.

State police at Frackville have arrested two persons in connection with the theft of $1,315 worth of tobacco products from a Schuylkill County business.

Police said the incident happened at the Exxon Unimart, West Mahanoy Township, and involved an on-duty store clerk. It took place between midnight and 1:30 a.m. Oct. 6.

Charged with retail theft are Matthew Bagdonavicius, 19, and Cody Church, 22, both of Frackville.

A Carbon County business has been cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for violating state liquor laws.

The Beltzville Bar and Grill, LLC, Box 5350, Kunkletown R.5, Towamensing Township, was cited on Sept. 4 for illegally selling alcoholic beverages after its restaurant liquor license expired on Aug. 31 and had not been renewed and/or validated.
