Monroe County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of Peter Arendas, a fugitive from justice.

Judge Margherita Patti Worthington issued a warrant for Arendas when he failed to appear for sentencing on the charge of obstruction/administration of law and government functions.

Arendas is a white male, five-feet, 11-inches tall and 172 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and is 44 years old. Efforts to locate Arendas at his last known address of 2303 Squirrel Circle, Coolbaugh Township, have proved unsuccessful.

Rush Township police report that on March 6 at 12:38 a.m., Joshua J. Ohl, 30, of Lansford, was taken into custody on an active bench warrant out of Schuylkill County.

Police found a large bag of marijunana on Ohl while he was in custody. Ohl was transported to county prison and is facing a charge of possession of marijuana over 30 grams.

The cause of death of a Shenandoah resident is still pending following an autopsy.

The body of Michael Sosna, 54, of 538 E. Mount Vernon St., Shenandoah, was found about 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, in his residence by responding medical personnel. They were called to the residence for a report of an unresponsive person.

State police at Frackville, who were asked to take over the investigation by Shenandoah police, said an autopsy was performed on Monday at the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, by Dr. Richard Bindei, forensic pathologist.

A Monroe County man has been charged with access device fraud.

State police at Lehighton said Jeremiah Thomas, 33, of Saylorsburg, was charged for allegedly using using the Verizon rebate card of Catherine Marie Spera, 26, of Saylorsburg, at the Sunoco service station alogn Old Route 115 and Kunkletown Road, in Ross Township, on March 5 at 11:30 a.m. without her permission.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on three theft incidents probed by troopers.

Troopers said the license plate from the 1999 Pontiac Montana of Saundra Lanay Woods, 51, of Albrightsville, was stolen while parked in a lot at the Kinsley's Shoprite in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The plate was taken sometime between 2 and 4:15 p.m. on March 3. Troopers believe the plate was taken by a person in a green pickup truck that has brown trim and two different types of wheels.

Christopher Poplin, 32, of 407 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, was cited for five counts of forgery. The incident occurred on Feb. 6 between 3 and 7:30 p.m. in the 100 to 600 blocks of Delaware Avenue.

Terroristic threats

Criminal charges were filed against Kathy Long, 41, of 576 Mauch Chunk Rd., Palmerton, for intimidation of witnesses or victims and terroristic threats. The incident occurred on Feb. 23 in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue.

A Slatington driver was cited after a crash that occurred about 10 a.m. on Feb. 26, along SR100 at George Road, in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Lynn Kovalchik was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when she attempted to turn right onto George Road. Troopers said she was going too fast and her Jeep slid on the gravel as she made the turn. The Jeep slid across George Road where the front end struck an embankment causing major damage.

Kovalchik was not injured. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

State police at Frackville are investigating the death of a Schuylkill County man.

Troopers said the body of Michael Sosna, 54, of 58 E. Mount Vernon St., Shenandoah, was found at his home about 2 p.m. on Sunday after emergency medical services were summoned to the home for a report of an unresponsive male.

Shenandoah police initially responded to the scene and then requested the assistance of state police. An autopsy will be scheduled by the county coroner's office. Assisting in the probe is the Schuylkill County District Attorney's office.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks released their statistical report of activities for the month of February.

In the criminal division there were 124 offenses reported, 120 founded, 68 cleared and 59 arrests made. In the traffic division there were 46 crashes investigated, five hit and runs, 20 injured, 10 drunk driving arrests, five DUI-related crashes, no fatalities, 258 citations issued and four writtten warnings handed out.

There were 566 incidents for the month.

A Coaldale man faces burglary and related charges after allegedly stealing a parrot.

Jonathan Allen Butruch, 28, whose last known address is 274 Third Street, also faces charges of criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua, here's what happened:
