Mason D. Beck, 24, of Kutztown, is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI), providing false identification and other counts after he gave a false name to Rush Township Police after being stopped on Lafayette Avenue on Sept. 30.

Beck was taken to the Pottsville hospital for a blood test, police said.

State police at Lehighton reported on burglaries and theft incidents probed by troopers.

Troopers said they are probing several burglaries that occurred a the following locations: 103 Evergreen Court, 320 Blue Ridge Road, and 272 Shady Oaks Drive-East, all in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County.

The listed victims are Richard Harold Krasley, 59, Carl Joseph Cuvo, 60, and Arlene Mary Tyler, 70.

Rush Township Police charged Jolene R Marek, 31, of Coaldale with DUI after she was pulled over by police on Mahanoy Avenue, Hometown, the night of September 28. Marek was taken to the Pottsville Hospital for blood work.

McAdoo police have cited Zaine Mitchell, 31, of 595 W. Maple St., Hazleton, following a traffic stop on Sept. 8.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was on patrol at 6:30 p.m. when he observed a 2004 Honda Civic traveling south on Kennedy Drive. The vehicle did not have a driver's side mirror. The officer turned to follow the vehicle, at which time the driver increased his speed and failed to stop for a stop sign.

A Hazleton man has been cited by McAdoo police following an incident on Sept. 9.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was on routine patrol at 2 a.m. when he observed a 2002 Subaru being driven on Kennedy Drive at a high rate of speed. The vehicle proceeded to turn on to West Blaine Street and the operator failed to use a turn signal. Homanko stopped the Subaru and identified the driver as Ramon Zoquier Medina, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

A Jim Thorpe man is facing theft and related counts following an incident that occurred on Aug. 23.

Borough police said they responded to 112 South Ave., for a report of a unwanted person. On scene officers were told by Denise L. Staubinger that Arthur Scott Hanman, 43, of 49 W. Fourth St., had stolen her prescribed medication.

Hanman, who was on probation, was taken into custody and transported to the adult probation office at the county courthouse. He was later incarcerated on a probation violation.

An inmate at the state correctional institution at Mahanoy, Frackville, Schuylkill County, has admitted making a false report to police.

State police at Frackville have charged Michael Lee Reed, 33, with false reports to law enforcement authorities. Troopers said on Sept. 18 Reed was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment and examination. Reed reported that he was assaulted by another inmate at the prison while in his cell.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County business and a break-in at a private residence.

Troopers said Kreiser's Market, located at 198 S. Tremont St., Tremont, was entered by two individuals who smashed the front window to gain entry.

Once inside they removed cigarettes, money, and a small lockbox containing keys. The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, troopers said.

Jim Thorpe police reported the arrest of a borough teen for robbery.

Police said Michael John Hickey, 18, of 533 North St., Apt. 2, has been charged with robbery, a felony two, theft and receiving stolen property, both misdemeanor ones.

A Slatington male juvenile has been charged with burglary and related counts.

Borough police said the juvenile has been charged in connection with a entry at 1038 Oakhurst Drive which was reported about 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

He was also charged with criminal trespass, theft, and receiving stolen property.
