A Slatington man is facing criminal charges.

Borough police said about 2:04 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, they responded to a domestic incident at 314 W. Church St., Apt. 2.

As a result of an investigation police charged Joel Trybulski, 29, of that address, with simple assault and harassment.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 12:19 p.m. on Oct. 30 along Smith Hill Road, in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Michael D. Nicholas, 26, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Aztec eastbound when the vehicle went off the road and got stuck on top of a pile of mud. Nicholas was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene at the driver's request, troopers said.

Speed and alcohol were factors in a one-vehicle crash that left a Schuylkill County couple seriously injured. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 4:25 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, along SR61 in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft incident at a Schuylkill County fire company. The theft is one of two theft incidents, along with a burglary, occurring in the county.

Troopers said the Independent Hose Company, located at 16 Sunshine St., East Norwegian Township, had the office area forcibly entered. Once inside the criminals forced open a locked drawer and removed about $650 that was raised during a fundraiser. The incident occurred sometime between Nov. 1-3, troopers said.

Mahoning Township police are investigating a burglary over the weekend at a local manufacturing plant.

Chief Kenneth Barnes reports that the burglary occurred at RPM, of 839 Blakeslee Blvd. East, between 12:15 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 this morning. A person or persons forcibly entered the building by smashing out a window on east side. The burglar(s) entered the plant office, ransacked it and stole an undetermined amount of cash. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (570) 386-2241.

A vehicle and a deer collided in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Desiree Jackson, 41, of Kelayres, was drivng a 2008 Subaru Forester southbound on SR61 at Municipal Road, in West Brunswick Township, about 12:26 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, when a deer entered the road in front of her.

She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it. Jackson and her passenger, Annette Delong, 37, of Slatington, were not injured and were wearing seat belts.

Damages were heavy to the front end of the car, troopers said.

A Schuylkill County couple were both charged following a domestic incident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Dawn Marie Levan, 43, and Michael Carver, 40, both of Centre St., Port Clinton, became involved in a physical confrontation about 8-8:30 a.m. on Oct. 30.

Troopers said citations were issued to both for harassment.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of hit-and-run following a crash in Schuylkill County. It is one of three crashes investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven on county roads.

Troopers said Stephen Wetzel, 40, of Pine Grove, was driving an 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit northbound on Hetzels Church Road at Martins Road, in Washington Township, about 6:46 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. Wetzel lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and struck a tree.

After impact with the tree Wetzel left the scene without reporting the accident. He will be charged, troopers said.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

State police at Lehighton said Mitchell Kenlon McClure, 50, of Palmerton, was stopped for a traffic violation along SR248 eastbound at Club Road, in Lower Towamensing Township.

McClure was found to be under the influence and was taken into custody. Charges will be filed, troopers said.

Walnutport police chief Joseph W. Pennisi released the report of activities for his department for the month of October.

There were 150 calls for service, 20 traffic citations issued, two criminal arrests, 12 parking tickets issued, and 13 warnings issued.

Police vehicles traveled a total of 2,034 miles during the month.
