Icy road conditions last Thursday, Nov. 25, were blamed for two of three crashes investigated on Schuylkill County roadways by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

A crash occurred about 11:05 a.m. along Mill Creek Avenue in East Norwegian Township. Troopers said Fallon M. Tice, 27, of Coaldale, was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty and descending a hill and she lost control when the vehicle hit icy patches. The vehicle slid onto the south berm where it struck a utility pole.

Tice and her passenger, Steven B. Reed Jr., 29, also of Coaldale, were not injured.

Two teenagers were cited for harassment after they were involved in an altercation.

According to Summit Hill police, officers were called by Panther Valley Middle School at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 16, for two 14-year-old males from Coaldale. The school reported that the two students had an altercation on one of the school buses. Both were cited.

A Carbon County driver was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Luis Ernesto Colon, 21, of Lansford, was stopped for speeding about 12:18 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, along SR22 at SR309 in Whitehall Township. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI. Troopers also said Colon had an active warrant for his arrest.

An elderly Schuylkill County man was jailed on sexual assault charges that stem from alleged offenses that occurred over 10 years ago.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert Eugene Barry, 76, of 31 W. Railroad St., Donaldson, Frailey Township, was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, on charges of attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent exposure. Barry was placed in the county prison after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail.

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating the theft of two pieces of lumber from a property in Towamensing Township.

The incident happened between 4 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. Nov. 19. The victim is Patrick Quarry, 53, of Lehighton.

Police said someone took the lumber from the victim's property at 3170 Forest Street and fled in an unknown direction.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating a burglary that happened between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at a home in Jackson Township, Monroe County.

Police said someone entered the residence at 6389 Five Springs Road by gaining entry through the back door, proceeding to steal jewelry, a jewelry box and a waste can before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The name of the victim was not reported by police.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks arrested Joseph Amoroso, 30, of Blakeslee, for drunk driving on Wednesday.

Police said he was stopped for driving a vehicle that had its tail lights not properly functioning, at which time police determined Amoroso was under the influence of alcohol.

He was transported to the barracks after being stopped at the intersection of Rt. 115 and Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township at 6:49 p.m.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a Palmerton woman was victimized when she received a fraudulent check for a sale she conducted on the web.

The victim, Erin Behler, 31, of 765 Summer Mountain Road, Lower Towamensing Township, Palmerton, told police she was selling a vehicle on a common website and upon receiving payment learned that the check was fraudulent.

The investigation is continuing.

Tracee Hoppes, 45, of Pine Grove, will be cited by state police at the Frackville barracks with failure to yield to oncoming traffic after an accident Nov. 24 at 6:46 a.m. at the intersection oe Summer Valley Road (Rt. 895) and East Rausch Road in East Brunswick Township.

Police said she was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus that stopped at the above intersection and proceeded into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck operated by David Leinbach, 48, of Tamaqua, who was westbound on Summer Valley Road at the time.

State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a criminal mischief incident whereby someone damaged the lawn of a property in Lower Towamensing Township.

The incident happened at 2 a.m. Nov. 21. The victim is Joshua Poysher, 32, of 2735 Hahn's Dairy Road, Palmerton.

No details of how the damage was caused were provided by police.
