State police at Frackville are investigating a theft incident at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said four Siemens induction motors were removed from the Old Bear Ridge Shop property located at 10 Gilberton Road, in West Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said the theft was discovered about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

James Smith Jr., 53, of Pocono Summit, has been arrested by Pocono Mountain Regional Police for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the man was stopped while driving on Route 940, near the Pocono Summit Plaza, after he was observed "weaving" his vehicle, a Chevrolet truck.

Police said they observed indications of intoxication and made the arrest after he was administered field sobriety tests.

A Carbon County man is facing several criminal charges stemming from an incident at a county school.

State police at Lehighton said Todd John Mertz, 54, of Lehighton, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 12, on three counts each of theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a burglary and theft incident.

The break-in occurred at the residence of Steven Warhurst, 57, of 340 Covered Bridge Road, in Kunkletown, Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said entry was gained by pushing open a exterior screen window leading to the first floor bathroom. Removed was numerous prescription pills. The incident occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sept. 5.

A Slatington driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville Dawn Marie Campolo, 32, was northbound about 12:50 a.m. on aug. 28 when her vehicle became disabled near a downed tree. She was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) and drug arrest made by officers.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, about 2:39 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Stoney Hollow Road for a headlight being out. The driver was identified as Alan Byron, 23, of Albrightsville. Officers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Byron. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.

State police at Frackville are investigating the theft of two tires and rims at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said the two tires and rims were removed from a Ford Windstar van that was parked for sale on the lot at Don's Auto Wholesale, Center St., Sheppton, East Union Township. The incident occurred sometime between 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, and 7 a.m. on Monday.

The tires are Cooper brand touring size 215 70 R15 with aluminum rims.

State police at Lehighton are investigating a theft from a vehicle incident.

Ashley Lynn Lucykanish, 26, of 2155 Little Gap Rd., Lehighton, reported her unlocked Dodge Neon was entered while parked near her residence.

Taken was a Garmin GPS unit, cash and various other items.

The incident occurred sometime between 4:45 and 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two driving under the influence (DUI) related crashes early Sunday morning, Sept. 11.

Troopers said about 1:25 a.m. Michael Scott Zelinsky, 21, of Pottsville, was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero GL eastbound on Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township, when he lost control as he approached Manheim Road. The car crossed the center line and went onto the north berm where Zelinsky oversteered in an attempt to regain control.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a rear-end collision that occurred about 4:07 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, along SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said a 2008 Kia Spectra operated by Amanda S. Green, 24, of Kunkletown, ran into the rear of a 2011 Toyota Prius driven by Patricia Batzel, 63, of Clifton Township, Lackawanna County.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

Troopers cited Green for following too closely.
